@Francis,
That wild cat must be training to be a champion vaudeville pole sitter.

A colorfully dressed rhesus monkey at a zoo in Qingdao, China, munches on a frozen popsicle to stave off sunstroke on Wednesday. Much of China has been struck by extreme temperatures as a high as 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) this week. Zookeepers in Beijing also used giant blocks of ice to cool off animals and the government doubled a "high temperature" subsidy for workers. Those working outdoors will receive an extra 120 yuan ($18) per month and those working in hot indoor areas will receive an extra 90 yuan.

tsar, The cheetah cup is not practicing for vaudeville. It's practicing scoping out the landscape to find prey or, maybe since this one is so young it's mother.

I'm glad the monkey is cooling off. He'd probably be even cooler without the wardrobe. (Not a fan of clothes on animals, but I'm a picky pain in the patoot).

The bush pup is adorable and glorious. Thanks for them both.

Francis, Thanks for the cheetah baby pic. What a cutie.

@Roberta,
Miss Roberta, the bush dog looks like a little cuddly thing but something tells (probably from that look in his eyes) he's not quite as cuddly as he looks.

I had always thought koala bears were sweet looking animals but I was told by someone in Australia just how vicious they can be. Would that be the case with bush dogs?

@Arella Mae,
Arella Mae, Koalas and bush dogs are wild animals. Cute but wild. I don't think I'd categorize either as vicious, but I wouldn't walk up to one and except a loving hug.

@djjd62,
dj, The clarity in these pictures is amazing. Color is vibrant. Love these pics. And the little guy in them. I agree with Arella Mae. I think he looks a bit pissed. Hey, get yourself and your steenkin' camera off my rocks.

@ossobuco,
Ok, I uploaded the photos.

Trinidad pier and the seagulls, egads, one of my favorite places in my life. If any of you ever make a drive, say from San Francisco north on highway 101 all the way through the redwoods, there are many beauteous rewards, and Trinidad, not too far north of Eureka and Arcata, is a special place. The pier is a working pier...

Last I saw of it, Trinidad, the town, was not touristy, though I think there are places to stay.

On the photos, I suppose it's time for me to mention that mine aren't as clear as they used to be - but I still enjoy them and the process.

@Roberta,
Oh Miss Roberta! Ths picture made me cry. I once had a white german shepherd/wolf named Max. He went blind and I had to have him euthanized. He was so big and just couldn't seem to adapt to his blindness. He stopped even trying to do anything but eat. He would lay in the bathroom all the time and seemed so sad. The day I took him to the vet to be euthanized, he was running around the yard and seemed so happy. When I got to the vet and told him he had been running around and seemed happy he told me he really thought Max knew he was going to be out of his dark world and was glad about it. I don't know if he told me that beacause it was true or to help me feel better about my decision.

Thank you for this picture. What a lovely memory of Max you brought back to me. A sad one to be sure but lovely all the same.

So this is what a bush dog looks like. Never knew what they were until I say the photo of the pup. They look more ursine then canine.

@ossobuco,
Thanks for the Trinidadian snapshots ossobuco. I like their vintage snapshot feel to them.

I wonder if the two seagulls in the second photo were having a marriage spat that's why they're parked on the opposite ends of the same roof, each to his or her back to each other.
