Oh, dj. What a little beauty. I'm worried about this baby. Too conspicuous to survive in the wild. Oy. Ok. Just gonna admire how gorgeous it is. Not gonna worry. Thanks for the pic.

I have had to totally rethink insects. I never knew there were so many of them that were so beautiful.

dj, Obviously there's at least one deer wandering around with white genes.

Arella Mae, You made me laugh. A few months ago I was having dinner with a friend. I told her about this thread. We post pictures of all kinds of animals. I included insects in the list. She said, "Insects?" I told her to get out her laptop. We googled orchid mantis. She was amazed. I've been sending her photos of beautiful insects ever since. She told me that she changed her thinking about insects.

@Roberta,
LOL! That is sweet Miss Roberta.

Those goats are something, aren't they? You wouldn't catch me on the side of any mountain like that.

@Roberta,
drill monkey yawning.

zoologists plan to bring rare animals back from the dead. Maybe that's why this primate is yawning

@Letty,
I would hate to see what he looks like when he is mad if this is him yawning. Laughing

Roberta I wanted to share this picture with you and others on this site. It is special to me because in 25 years I have never had one of these build a nest in my back yard. It is difficult to get a picture because they like to hide Smile

@Roberta,
That reminds me of the albino deer someone showed on this thread (maybe djjd?) - that they seemed vulnerable too. No idea though if they are any more so than other deer, and they may be protected from the hunting population (not sure) if not the wildlife population.

Arella Mae, That picture makes me noivous. I'm not afraid of heights. but holy moley.

Letty, Drills are close relatives of mandrills. This is not a yawn:

@Roberta,
I must be mid-afternoon wacky: that makes me think, "get with child a mandrill tooth (I need distraction, I'm paying bills.)

@Izzie,
I'm very fond of geese. 'Course, I've only known them personally as one or two at a time - never as many as those in your photos - we've sort of danced, me to get by them while laughing, or en masse at the Humboldt Bay Wildlife Reserve, from the pier (love that place, and that gives me an idea for photos to add).

@ossobuco,
Gee, not many good images on google for the place. I have some neat photos myself, but no geese in them.

Remember my series a while back on the alpacas? That alpaca ranch was down the way from the wildlife refuge. Sometimes when we'd visit the alpacas for a few minutes of sheer alpaca watching joy after a day's work, oh, sixty miles away... we'd have a goosey chorus in the background...

I'll see if I can find one of my own photos; not sure if there are any birds at all in them at this point.

@ossobuco,
No luck, the refuge pics are probably in one of my places to paint photo piles, ugh, I should get more organized.
Did find some of seagulls at Trinidad pier in the fog, will post later.
Plus, one other interesting one.
