Thank you for those pictures roberta. especially the middle one.
I use to breed Hapalohromis electra, which I believe was related to that middle picture. I simply called them electric blues.
Osso-pictures are in a box, somewhere in my attic.
I know this is a post a picture thread, but, this is the best I can do.....for now.

alex, Here's a link to the thread that will help you learn to post an image. Somewhere in this thread are a whole bunch of people helping me do just that.

Is that ant indeed carrying that leaf or did the ant, while taking a casual stroll, happen to look skyward and have his head cleaved in half by a lethal projectile?

Things to ponder.

And pondering I am, gus. We're not certain that the ant is missing a head. It's probably behind the leaf. However, I don't know whether ants are among the insects that can live without a head. Some can. Now I have to go do some research.

Back from Google. Couldn't find anything about headless ants. But I did learn that ants don't have lungs. Some queen ants can live for up to thirty years. Male ants don't live long.

She's not missing her head....it is clearly visible, supporting the mandibles in which this leaf-cutter ant is carrying her bit of leaf back to the nest to feed the communal fungi garden....

Her thorax is just a bit hidden by her legs....

You're right, Deb. The head is there, but the ant looks incomplete. Must be the mandibles.

Noid? Vous? Mebbe, but definitely the lovable variety.

Hey, I wasn't born yesterday. I've heard that before. It won't bite. Hah!

Went to google to learn more about that pretty little lizard. Found a bunch of French stuff, two photos of a lizard (one of which did not look like the one you posted), and a bunch of other stuff.

Does the little cutie have an English name?
