Don't mean to be irreverent but I am home recovering from surgery until Monday and I am a news junkie and YET ANOTHER FORD MEMORIAL SERVICE is on CNN now.

Thank goodness, I like football too, (How bout them Boise State Broncos, huh?) otherwise I think I would have certainly lost whatever marbles I still have by now.

The Sugar Bowl is on tonight? LSU and ND, that should be good.

Gerald Ford is not actually dead. Well, his body is; but, his body of work and a stack of WIN buttons are still available.

Services are a necessity as the American public needs way to say ta-ta, au revoir and the such. It may seem like a bit much and maybe some of it is; but there are all sorts who wanted to say farewell to the President I was too blotto to remember much of. Since he had been out of elected politics for some 30 years he had moved on in life and formed new relationships with people.
The D.C. services were necessary for the political showmanships, the California ones for his being located there at death and of course Michigan because it was his so called home state. I'm surprised there hasn't been a service planned in Nebraska where he was actually born.

Should be an int'resting game tonight since both Notre Dame and Louisiana are 10-2 and seem fairly well matched. My gut says Weis will get the fighting Irish motivated into a victory.

Keep your chin up Roxxxanne and don't let all the Ford coverage distract from your physical recovery and reserving energy for the game later on.

The Timorese Genocide and America's role in it from Ford to Clinton is not worth mentioning. Ford was a good guy who happened to visit Suharto the day before a massacre that Ford could have prevented with a no. Help America keep the lie alive. We're no. 1. Caution graphic pictires on this link. http://www.angelfire.com/pe/Timor/ "December 6, 1975, Ford and Henry Kissinger flew to Jakarta to meet with dictator Suharto and to give him a green light to invade East Timor.

According to a declassified State Department cable, here was part of their conversation.

Suharto to Ford and Kissinger: "We want your understanding if we deem it necessary to take rapid or drastic action."

Ford: "We will understand and will not press you on the issue. We understand the problem you have and the intentions you have."

Kissinger: "We understand your problem and the need to move quickly, but I am only saying that it would be better if it were done after we returned."

Ford and Kissinger returned to the United States, and Suharto launched his invasion hours later.

Suharto's invasion and occupation cost the lives of 200,000 Timorese.

But never mind. We're not supposed to remember those things. Just that Jerry Ford was such a nice guy." link
