that would be the sacrifice of us and our children of course, not him or his....or any noticeable number of Congressmen, Senators or their children.

Well, we knew this was coming. These guys are predictable.

It will be interesting to watch now for three things:

1) they understand that they'll have to mount a pervasive and compelling PR campaign. They actually began this before the Baker commission report by leaking and talking about all those other parallel "information gathering/advice taking" operations they had going on, being the reasonable and careful fellows they are. Now, we are hearing from Hadley about unfortunate military strategies and advice to the President from the military command, about to be replaced by the way. The buck never stops here. There will be more of that because to play the old trick of "new corner turned/new hopeful path ahead" they'll have to recast the recent past as wrong but not their fault. Fox and Krauthammer and all the others will play Pravda mouthpiece.

2) but they've got some serious new problems, PR-wise, because of the Baker report and the more honest appraisals of Iraq which were facilitated by that report, and from the many Republicans (and others) who are now vocally against a build up. Not to mention the new political landscape and the increased power and visibility of the opposition.

3) the recent election and what it potentially portends for continued Republican power. Whatever PR strategy these guys are working on now will have as a fundamental goal the convincing of the electorate that the electorate is morally obligated to sacrifice their children to prevent futher damage to American interests accrued through the brave policies of those administrators who are really rich and protected and having lunches courtesy of lobbyists from the corporate war machine.

Fearful futures, evil enemies, the horrible prospect for America if its daddy is known publicly to have had his nuts cut off.

is it possible that even with the vigilance, brilliant day to day prosecution of the war and valiant efforts of our administratrion and president that a new threat or incident is just on the horizon? Should I get my rainbow alert poster back out of the closet and post it in a conspicuous place in the house?
