Everybody's got something to hide except for me and my monkey.

WASHINGTON (AFP) - The US House of Representatives turned back two attempts by Democratic lawmakers to broaden the scope of the inquiries into the George W. Bush administration's handling of intelligence on Iraq (news - web sites)'s weapons programs.
Those efforts were made in the form of amendments offered as part of a funding bill for intelligence matters for the coming fiscal year.
The amendments were proposed by two liberal Democratic representatives: Dennis Kucinich of Ohio and Sheila Jackson Lee of Texas. Lee's amendment would have forced a review of intelligence shared by Washington with the United Nations (news - web sites) about Iraqi weapons.
Kucinich's amendment would have required a review of phone and e-mail contacts between between the Central Intelligence Agency (news - web sites) and Vice President Dick Cheney (news - web sites) on the issue of Iraqi weapons. Both measures were defeated overwhelmingly.

Hmmmm - much the same in Oz, Dys.

Here, we are to have a Senate Inquiry into the quality of the intelligence assessment prior to the decision to go to war - (forced through against the wishes of the government, of course) but it will be secret, because of the nature of the material being investigated.

parliamentary Inquiries can be really tough - but the country will never get to really make up its own mind = or not for 20 or fifty years, or whatever it is.

How appropriate that the bunny was the 1st to respond to this because it makes me feel as though I'm falling, falling, falling down the rabbit hole: remember, one pill makes you larger, one pill makes you small ...

Where are the massive street protests? This is an issue as compelling as the Bush invasion of Iraq and a sustained filling of the streets would be aimed at saving more lives as well as returning the country to saner policies and public discussions. Much more effective if those willing to throw rocks stay home.
