Like great public schools or health insurance for all?
How about Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, the Beatitudes?
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the Earth.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.
And so on.
Not exactly planks in a Republican platform. Not exactly Donald Rumsfeld or Dick Cheney stuff.
For some reason, the most vocal Christians among us never mention the Beatitudes. But, often with tears in their eyes, they demand that the Ten Commandments be posted in public buildings. And of course that's Moses, not Jesus. I haven't heard one of them demand that the Sermon on the Mount, the Beatitudes, be posted anywhere.
"Blessed are the merciful" in a courtroom? "Blessed are the peacemakers" in the Pentagon? Give me a break!

There is a tragic flaw in our precious Constitution, and I don't know what can be done to fix it. This is it: Only nut cases want to be president.

As our firend Kurt Vonnegut says, so it goes.
How about ,"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven"? You've got to give that one to the Republican party. They obviously let someone poor in spirit run the kingdom of America.
In general, having the government own the means of production and plan and direct the economy strikes me as anti-individualistic, and makes me feel at least queasy.
How about "Verily I say unto thee, if you liw with a whore and she gives you the clap do not lie with her again" Bear-3:16
And yet bush served 2 terms....

"Any gov't that is big enough to give you everything, is big enough to take everything you have"
Gerald R. Ford
(the smartest thing he ever said, IMO)

In general, since WWII socialistic ideas are more related to expanded personal freedom and liberal social policies than to those -original- marxistic-socialistic topics.

How does what you claim square with what Ford said, Walter?
Haven't you heard all the complaints about the freedoms that the Bush admin has been accused of taking? Do you agree with those complaints?
Anyone who wants to run for public office should be automatically disqualified.
We should choose our public servants by lot. That way we'd have at least a chance of getting someone reasonably honest, and possibly give a deserving person a decent income.
If what Jesus said was so important, they would have named the religion after him.
Duh.
Saul/Paul=christian
Moses=Judaism
