A Christmas walk through the parc

Reply Tue 26 Dec, 2006 11:12 am
Today, Boxing Day, is the 2nd Christmas Day in Germany.

It was a sunny public holiday.
So I made a walk through our parc, which is just steps away.

I wouldn't get lost there but since there aren't many leaves on the trees in this season, sign post are easily to spot as well

Season? It's Christmas, winter!

But the wood looks like .... well, another time of the year.

But some red colour and "distant stairways to heaven" might be considered to be "saisonal"

When I walked on the back side of the thermal pool, I suddenly noticed an egret - well, actually the bird noticed me before and I could only take snapshot when it flew away

But there it was again - on the other side of the building, at the fountain/duck's pond:

Thank you so much for sharing, Walter. I especially like the close-up of the red leaf, but they are all beautiful and peaceful.

Those are not skiing but 'Nordic walking'

A last view towards the setting sun and back home for a cup of coffee and cookies

Lovely, Walter. The only bird that I have in my back yard is this one:

I particularly like the fountain duck pond. Explain about a thermal pool, if you will.

Hey, tico/ti. Where have you been?

It's a thermal sole bath.
The saltwater thermal spa is located in the spa gardens/park and is supplied by its own bubbling spring which rises from the ground at a temperature of 33°C.

http://i18.tinypic.com/2yllg6q.jpg

that means: thermal sole (2 sources), salt concentration 12.8% and 9.7%, CO2 concentration ... miligrams per liter, iodine ... miligrams per liter, iron .... miligrams per liter, temperature 88.16°F and 92.94°F.

Yes Walter, the satellite was tracking you the whole time! Sorry don't know your thermal pool, but I know my favorite so far in Germany:

http://www.nassauer-hof.de/go/therme_hotel_nassauer_hof_wiesbaden

It's filled directly from a hot spring under the hotel, but it's at the top floor so the view is of the whole city, including Roman ruins. My favorite theory on the fall of the Roman empire btw has it that the legions moved too far north, couldn't hold their strategy meetings in Wiesbaden's thermal pools any longer, and started fighting each other instead of assorted enemy tribes Smile

February, you say? Fully booked, since it's spring break in Essex and AirBerlin sold extremely cheap tickets via Lidl some time ago ....

Walter: Experimenting with Google Earth, which I've recently discovered.

Zoomed right to your house. Saw the park to the East. Pretty amazing program.

I'm glad that our balcony doesn't look the garden of SIL's (though they live somewhere else).
