First of all there should be no OS problems. I sent you a PM saying so but you might have missed it.

As to the rest I suggest you do one at a time. Move or tweak.

Let's get your site moved and then get those details hammered out?

i have photos and i'm not sure if i have html enabled on the board (i think i do though) - try the features embedded in phpbb where you click on the img button after you've highlighted the photo link - that may help.
for example, if you had a photo (this won't work) at www.gadgetaddict.com/images/zrock.jpg (you'd need the http:// in front anyway, you'd highlight the http:// www.gadgetaddict.com/images/zrock.jpg and then click the img button - that should put [img] in front, and [/img] at the end of the highlighted section.
although, if you want to fiddle with the image size, then you'd have to use <img src=http:// blah blah...zrock.jpg width="100" height="100"> or whatever numbers...see? i do believe the img src= is pure html...

I forgot to comment on the HTML issue.

It's not a good idea as it opens up various exploits.

If you enable it be careful with what tags you enable. It's best to avoid it alotogether.

Thanks for the feedback. I emailed the new host asking how to get linux with cpanel instead of FreeBSD with "vdeck". (I currently don't have a cpanel). They gave me a link to the vdeck - I cannot open it at work, but can at home (looks like our firewall doesn't like port 8087). At the moment, I'm still a bit confused on the differences between Linux/FreeBSD and cpanel/vdeck, and no access during the day may be a problem.

Can Gary's example be used with bbcode instead of html to get photos within a post?

I was hoping to tweak the board a bit while I'm trying to figure out the host info, but will follow your guidance.

for what it's worth, i only hit cpanel when i want to monkey around or make a backup - in other words, i very rarely go into it - maybe once/week if that - so that may give you an idea how important the ability to get in during the day is. however, if i wanted to make a backup and then couldn't get in, i'd be pretty annoyed, likewise, those once/week sessions - if i had to get in NOW and could not, it would be unacceptable. something to consider.

zrock,

Yes, it's best to get the cpanel version. Cpanel is the best hosting software for your purposes.

As to photos you can use BBCode to post them. BBCode is much more secure than HTML.
