Cheney

Quote:
Cheney: Rumsfeld "Is The Finest Secretary Of Defense This Nation Has Ever Had"...

Architect of the unpopular war in Iraq, Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld was praised lavishly for his service to the nation Friday as he called on Americans to spend more heavily on defense.

President Bush called Rumsfeld "one of America's most skilled, energetic and dedicated public servants." And Vice President Cheney said, "he is the finest secretary of defense this nation has ever had."

I must agree with LSM. Cheney is entitled to his opinion no matter how flagranntly false, misguided or disingenuous it may be.

Most of that "most skilled" bullshot is just that, gold watch speech crap. There is little doubt amongst the best observers that Donald Rumsfeld will be accorded much praise in the future based on his efforts at the Dept of Defense.

His career ended in dim failure.

I suspect history will indeed evaluate Rumsfield as a far better SECDEF than any of his predecessors during the last several decades.

Interesting that some here who merely post clips from othewr sources, accuse others of having nothing to say themselves.

Not a chance in hell of that happening.

Weinberger? As good as Weinberger?
More credits than Bill Perry?

This is a guy, Rumsfeld, who was clueless until the end.

Ok I will post my personal opininion. I think Rumsfeld is a very bright man but who let his ego define his logic. He, obviously, built a team of clone thinkers and disallowed any question of his strategy. He should have accepted questions (specifically from McCain and others) about needing more boots on the ground to establish control in the early days of Iraq and then locked himself into a corner of not backing down allowing the situation in Iraq to worsen.

We're all entiteled to our opinions so long as those opinions do not differ from the opinions given by the author of this thread.
BTW-What was his/her opinion?

You talkin to me? You want my opinion? Well gracious sakes alive....I think we'll have to wait & see about Rumsfelds effectiveness as a SoD....Cheney too as a former as SoD & VP. This is Rumsfelds second time at that job, the senate must've liked him too. Wha'cha think, huh?
As for what i thnk of Rumsfeld now, too early to tell.

Settin at my Dell

Givin the Libs hell

Seein just how much bile I can spew

My hubby he hates me

But I don't let it grate me

Long as my internet connection is on

Wasted away again in Margaritaville,

Searchin' for my lost shaker of salt.

Some people claim that there's a liberal to blame,

But I know it's nobody's fault.

Some may think it ain't right

To sit here all day and night

Just posting hate and trying to flame

But no I ain't got no life

And I know I am fishwife

So bloviating is the name of my game

Wasted away again in Margaritaville,

Searchin' for my lost shaker of salt.

Some people claim that there's a liberal to blame,

Now I think, - hell it could be my fault
