Can I take knitting needles into the plane?
Flight from Germany to the States!

Under the Make-up and Personal Items, knitting needles and crochet needles are listed as being permitted for both carry-on and checked luggage.
Id say a big no, they are offensive weapons.
Silly story, my parents came back from holiday by plane a couple of days ago, completly forgetting they wernt allowed liquids on the plane, a huge bottle of vodka was confiscated from there bags,my dad said jokingly to the guards 'Merry Christmas' as in, they get to drink it.
The guard ushered my dad over where the guard promptly just threw the bottle into a rubbish bin!
Good that the machines are showing up liquids but such a waste!
Hm, I know I lost some tweezers and two (expensive) nail scissors before.
According to this list, they are allowed as carry-ons.
I would just hate to lose my half-knitted sock...
They loosened up some of the travel restrictions within the six months or so. No scissors of any kind were allowed before, now they allow them if they fall within the measurement limits.
For even more detail of exactly what is permitted, click on the various links here in the TSA FAQs.

Thank you!
That sounds great!
I suppose I will ask on check-in, just to be sure, though.
They'll TELL you at check-in. Probably best to check with your specific airline and airport - at both ends of the journey.
