It's clear that the election was a mandate on bringing the troops home quickly. Bushie is chewing his cud saying "I'm not going to pull our troops off the battlefield before the mission is complete,". The mission is a disaster. Bushie's legacy is a disaster. The war is lost and even the architects of the war acknowledge that. How many more American and Iraqi deaths just on the outside chance that Bushie is not a loser in history? He's a loser. It's a done deal. Not only in Iraq but Bushie has lost the war in Afghanistan too. Unfortunately the human race has paid the price for his loser ways and the final toll is not in yet.

Mandate? With a margin that small, it's more like keeping congress from doing anything.

You wonder how long it will be before the US experiences its "Saigon Moment" in Iraq, and how many more US troops - and Iraqi civilians - will have to get maimed or die before this happens.
