As it happens, I bought what I thought were small yams the other day at the international food market... and they turned out to be purple inside. I cut them up a bit and roasted them along with onion and red potatoes - part of my just-about-weekly roasting vegetables routine. Then I use them as side dishes, or put them in soup.
