Mame- I agree. What happened with Kramer was similar to the issue with Mel Gibson. No amount of apologizing will allow me to believe that Kramer is not a racist.
And no amount of apologizing will make me think Gibson is not a jackass.
Do we really want to know this kind of stuff about these people? They are actors, not politicians... I wish they'd just shut up.
Score one for us cracker-ass white boys.
All of the Seinfeld bunch became millionaires (I pity them not), but they were deeply typed (a measure of the success of the program). Now, I suspect, they are paying for their success. "Kramer" has probably cracked up because of it.
Andy Kaufmann WAS a genius.
Thank you, that is all.

I feel certain he's a role model for and perfect representation of you and everyone associated with you, after that remark.

I'm guessing you didn't really listen to the video, just read the teleprompts.
Then what is your problem? I'm not here supporting Cosmo, just commenting on the trial by Internet.
There's a better video on msnbc. And he really did lose it. I'd say what's really incriminating is how awkward he is after people start leaving and he realizes what he's done. It's not a joke. He might even be surprised at himself. It's got to be surreal to realize, mid-disaster, that you've suddenly obliterated the endearing public persona you've leaned on for years. It's like your doting girlfriend, who thought you were such a sensitive gentleman, has finally found your secret stash of bestiality-oriented pornography, except your girlfriend is the whole world.
Or something like that?
Drink up, Mikey!

I agree with Mame. If it's not in their brain, they won't say it out loud. Drinking doesn't lessen his racial bigotry.
I've a long time association with actors... coming to my house for dinner. Mostly I couldn't wait until they left. I'll back off of actor bashing to say I've talked with some thoughtful ones, many of whom do one person shows as has been in vogue for the past decade or more.
It seems offhand that this fellow's real hostility flared. Not professional, as others have pointed out re standup folks learning to deal with hecklers, and obnoxious to the audience... who, to start with, is probably prepared to be shocked, and saw something more raw.
I was thinking exactly the same thing, Gargamel, you described it really well.
It's a shame, isn't it, when things go awry? I hate when I've got my illusions about someone dashed. In this case, no one wins.
Racial bigotry has only gone underground, and hidden from the general public. Once in awhile, some people slip and show their true colors. I'd rather know than not know that they are racial bigots, because I believe most decent people will not support "those" kind of people.
This might upset some people here, but what the hell.
When it comes to hecklers, one of the first rules of comedy is to come back at the heckler with something so shocking that it shuts them up. The problem is, it also has to be something that people feel they can laugh at. I think he was trying to do that, and it just all went to ****. I think he might have been alright if he would have just stopped after his first remark about hanging the guy upside down with a fork in his ass. That was shocking, but you can hear that the audience was still with him at that point. Then he lost them when he went into the whole "nigger, nigger, nigger" bit.
In other words, I think I am almost more offended at the dishonor he has brought to the art of stand-up comedy by his being so goddammed bad at it than his use of the "n" word.
Some people were stunned and sickened at good ole Cosmo Kramer venting with the 'N' word.
One is saddened by the dishonor done to the comedic profession.
Different strokes, that's all it is....
Oh wait, I just saw his apology. I take that all back. He's a racist a-hole.
