The Game

I live in Columbus, Ohio.

I'm therefore at ground zero for the insanity that is the Michigan-OSU game.

Kickoff is in an hour and the entire town is a madhouse. (It's actually a lot of fun!)

I was thinking it was still a rather local phenomenon but it's front-page news in the New York Times, too, just got finished reading both articles (front page of whole newspaper, front page of sports section).

Anyone else gonna watch? What do you think will happen? Will Bo's death -- after skipping a doctor's appointment to give a fiery pep talk to his team -- give Michigan the emotional edge they need? Or is OSU's homefield advantage too overwhelming?

I can see I'm a help so far, y'know I forced that punt...

but my record of helping in pro football is quite spotty.

I don't really follow college football, but I'll bump your thread since I hear it's like the biggest football game EVER or something...let's go Fighting Penguins!

28 points at halftime. :-D

This is fun both for the lead and for the way they've gotten it -- I loved the long run, loved the excellent fake, loved Smith's amazing pass inches from being sacked that put them in position for the fake/ TD. Favre-ian if I may say so myself.

Extremely impressed with Smith so far. I like that Gonzalez guy too.

Sozlet's been watching with me -- this is the first time we've watched football together since she was really little, since I just haven't been watching much in the last few years. (Before that I'd watch every Sunday, pretty much, pro ball though.)

So I've been teaching her the game, she's picking it up pretty quickly. She's definitely into it and having fun. She made two signs, all on her own (own idea, own execution) -- "OSU Buckeyes!" and "Boo M!" And is shaking them around at intervals. Then we're doing the O-H/ I-O chant at home. I'm gonna make a football fan out of her yet. :-)

Wolverines held to a field goal instead of tying the game.
This game is living up to the hype.

I'm more relaxed now... with 11 point difference. Still, that's not enough..

I've gotten addicted to following the pro results on the NFL thread via the game casts while I do other things around the house.

I do that with Packers games when I can't watch -- really nothing like watching live though. The run, he breaks away from one tackle, then another, then another, omigod can he make it?? he's going, he's going, he's going to make it!!! Touchdown!!! <much leaping around and laughing and high-fiving>

This last stop is big. One of Michigan's last chances for real momentum change, I think.

Still not wrapped up by any stretch of the imagination, though...
