There was a time, for sure, when abortion was a form of contraception precisely because contraception was unavailable or unreliable when accessible. Right up through the '70's I saw abortion being used by upper middle class women as a remedy for Oops Forgot... and it may well still be used that way. I don't like abortion, but I don't kid myself that all abortions are the result of stupidity and/or irresponsibility. And even if they were that's no reason for the law to get involved. So while detesting abortion and particularly abortions that result from irresponsibility), outlawing choice and privacy would have ramifications which are particularly scary when they come from an autocratic administration which has already proven itself to be death on liberty, autonomy, and personal responsibility.
