Scorsese's "The Departed" -- A++

What an f-ing great movie. Scorsese at his best.

We went and saw this movie last night and even though it was long (2 and a half hours) I hardly noticed.

I can't wait to get this when it comes out on DVD because like most Scorsese movies, I am sure I missed something. It's complex, twisted and fantastic.

Has anyone else seen this? It is a little bloody in some parts (but what gangsta film isn't?) and if you didn't like Goodfellas or Gangs of NY, you might not like this. But I thought it was fantastic.

In case you want to know, this movie is about two young cops (Damon and DiCaprio) who are on opposites of the law. One was sent in by organized crime boss Costello (Nicholson) to rise to the top of the ranks and be his eyes and ears within the police. The other is sent in undercover to infiltrate and eventually destroy the crime family. The wheels turn and eventually, each one discoveres secrets that could destroy them and reveal their true identities.

I don't want to say more because I don't want to spoil it for anyone.

But if you like crime films or Scorsese in general...go see this movie.

I'm hopefully seeing this film on Saturday. It certainly looks good from the trailers.

Matt Damon does it for me. I loved him in the Bourne Identity.

Was it the pissing in bottles or the not showering and shaving that did it for you?

well.....yeah....why?

actually it was that scene in the beginning where he's saying to the cigarette girl....

Boy, you are just hitting on all six cylinders, aren't you?

My God.

Would you do mea favor and just...?

Would you just smile for me one time? Just once?

Yeah. Yeah. You see, you got a short upper lip.

Makes for a much nicer smile.

See, I wonder what gives a beautiful woman like you pleasure.

I mean, say you're just standing there, right? And I just touch you.

Just... Just like this.

With my fingertips.

Do you...? Do you like that?

Do you?

You see, I wanna learn what pleases you.

I wanna learn everything about you.

Would you let me do that?

Would you give me that job?

Cigarette Girl:.....I'm off in half and hour....

I woulda been sayin' the same thing.

A friend of mine called it "Scorcese the 13th" referring to the excessive bloodiness of it. I couldn't make it through "Gangs of NY" for that very reason. Oh well. Love Nicholson and all the boys involved but, doubt I'll see it. Rolling Eyes

I didn't think it was that bloody. Must less so than Gangs or Goodfellas.

Don't get me wrong, it was still bloody. More violent than bloody.

Must say, I don't see the attraction of Leo - still looks like a cute little boy to me.

Ray Liotta, on the other hand....

I'm going to see it this afternoon Bella!

Went to see this the other week, very impressed overall. All the main guys invovled give strong performances. There was a variation in DiCaprio that I hadn't seen before which was excellent. I have to say, Mark Wahlberg's character made me laugh a lot as well, almost steals the show with that mouth of his. The scene with him, Martin Sheen and DiCaprio...the banter between them... Laughing
