Quote:
DENVER -- In Congressional District 7, former state senator Ed Perlmutter is strongly criticizing Republicans over a piece of direct mail that was designed to look like a sex-offender notification.

There's others, like getting campaign bumper stickers with the glue on the face instead of back. Paste them on car windshields so the driver gets a good view of the candidate's name, and not much else. Need I mention, you use your opponent's name and message?

Oh, I'm aware. I just figured we might want a place to document the more lurid examples that hit the media.

Republican's attack on Kind's 'sex study' vote finds home online only

Quote:
"Ron Kind," the ad continues, "even spent your tax dollars to pay teenage girls to watch pornographic movies with probes connected to their genitalia. Ron Kind pays for sex but not for soldiers."

Nelson's ad so irked state Republican leaders that it merited a call last week from Wisconsin Republican Party Executive Director Rick Wiley to Kind's campaign manager, Matt Sweeney, in which, Kind said, Wiley took pains to "denounce" it.

At least the Republicans at the state level have some class.

Just to keep things at an even keel....Democrats are just as prone to "dirty election tricks" as Republicans.

Quote:
Hundreds of dead people in the Southern Tier and tens of thousands statewide are still listed as eligible voters.

Handfuls of the deceased in Broome and 44 other New York counties are recorded as having cast votes in recent elections. And in a number of counties, boards of elections regularly mail ballots to the former addresses of deceased people because no one has notified them that the voter has died.

<<<snip>>>>
* Democrats who voted after death outnumbered Republicans by more than 4-to-1. Why? Most came from Democrat-dominated New York City, where the higher population produced more matches.

Phony Political Mailers Hitting Mailboxes

(CBS 13) SACRAMENTO Midterm elections are just hours away, but don't let false advertising sway your vote. You've probably been getting a lot of mail lately telling you which candidate or proposition to vote for. But some of these mailers are full of lies.

Thousands of flyer's went out claiming to be from the team of Democratic voters endorsing Republican incumbent Dan Lungren for Congress. Lungren's challenger, democrat Bill Durston said he was particularly upset when he received the flyer in his mailbox today calling it dirty politics.

Another mailer also went out claiming to be from the Democratic Party urging voters to vote "No" on 87 even though most Democrats are endorsing the measure.

The previous time I voted was in a special election in California where a school funding issue was on the ballot. The biggest opponent was a business owner who didn't live in town, and didn't want to pay the local tax. He had a point, maybe he even chose that location because of the tax base. Anyway, my story.

For years I always voted at the same location, at a school nearby. This time, however, the location was moved to another school.... I felt the reason was clear - the schools were deliberately trying to prevent opponents from voting. The measure passed (I actually voted for it but only because the schools were in such bad shape). Still...
