French tycoon heads art power list

The Guardian

It features collectors, museum directors, artists, an internet search engine and - at its very top - a French tycoon who made his billions in fashion retail and now spends them on Venetian palaces and pickled cattle.
ArtReview magazine's annual list of the 100 most powerful people in the contemporary art scene was published yesterday, prompting predictable modest coughs from those who found themselves near the top, and sniffy dismissals from those who had been bumped down the list or, worse, banished altogether.

As I see it, the most powerful is the one or ones who made up the list.
Thanks for bring this article to our attention, Walter.

Good point, JL.

Oh, and people rarely comment on my signature lines. One did fairly recently, on the signature before last, but... what was it? Oh, the one about the maple trees and kitten paws. But then I often go for metaphor or felicitous phrasing, 'tis m'shallow self.

And one did about two years before, but never mind. Be soothed, people do like signatures even if they don't comment.

So,

what'd'ya say again?

(I'm sure I nodded, but can't call it up).

That's heavy stuff, Osso. I think we sometimes do not respond for fear that we have misunderstood you. Do you think?

Well, JL, those were two disparate posts.

The signature lines post was to you.

The nah, (etc.) was to Gus.

But of course I understand that sometimes folks don't understand me.

No, I'm referring to your cognitive style on the whole. Please don't take offense; there is nothing offensive in my meaning, which is that your thinking and speaking are sometimes very subtle, requiring (for me at least) more effort to grasp than my mood or time constraints of the moment permit. I'm sure this applies to me--with respect to some A2Kers--as well.
God, I hope I'm not overstating my point.
Now, I always understand Gus and Dys on the very first glances.
Oh, that doesn't speak too well for me.
