dream interpretation?

I seem to recall there being threads about this on abuzz ... <g>

can anyone give me any insights? (warning - it's a little morbid. or quite morbid.)

I walk into a room - it's a factory - some kind of mechanical slaughterhouse for rabbits - white rabbits that are decapitated on these machines - the room is full of them, and it sounds really loud and industrial, and you can't hear the rabbits screaming. Their heads are cut off guillotine style, but I don't see where they fall. the rabbits will be used for food. I think about the "fact" that they will be much more useful if they are allowed to live.

When I wake up, I am frantic because I can't get the image out of my head.

Hm ... I think that's it.

Oh yeah - in the dream, I think about how, when they're killed and eaten like this, then they're gone - they are no more - but if they're allowed to live, then they'll be useful for longer. (the dream didn't actually specify for WHAT - and I don't really see the logic now.)

As far as I'm aware dreams are the brain's way of sorting and organising the information it has processed during the day(s).
So I'd suggest that your dream was connected to a particularly strong but perhaps new feeling you had that day. Perhaps regarding something you felt you should be doing rather than something else.

But then again...

You don't own a rabbit processing factory do you ?
Just kidding.

hm ... maybe.

I usually dream about myself. In this dream, I wasn't there - not really doing anything. I was just some observer in the room, not "Me" - a character in the dream. I wonder if that means anything.

I had this dream during the day.

I've been reading self-help books again, so it's possible that THAT is influencing my dreams - that I'm processing all this information.

I looked up and found this:

Behead
Another dream of contrary. Your success is assured if you dreamed of being beheaded; if the beheading involved others, success is still predicted but only after discouraging delays.

Rabbits

A dream of rabbits foreshadows that luck in your business enterprises will be immanent and other events will take a favorable turn in your direction.
A dream of white rabbits foretell faithfulness of a lover, and to see them at play show children will increase your joy.

uh ...

Wouldn't rabbits possibly also symbolize runaway procreation/promiscuity?

The first thing that popped into my head with the white rabbits was children/innocent people. Perhpas their beheading is some sort of symbolism for a view of children/innocents being disconnected, seperated or removed from.. ??? Society? Their innocence?

I dunno.. Dream stuff always seemd kinda weird to me...

Maybe it has some meaning in the transformations you've been going through yourself -- like, you're cutting off one part of your life so that you can contribute in a new way, and you're a little unsure about it. Maybe? Or you're thinking about that kind of change (just thinking about your thread on adulthood, here).

The first thought that came to mind was dlowan, but Craven already used that. Hmmmmm..... You know, restaurants do serve rabbit meat, and many meat markets sell rabbit. Cutting their head off reduces any suffering. Only one other thing comes to mind about rabbits, and the answer is readily available when anybody visits New Mexico or Arizona. c.i.

I go for streotypical symbolism:

The factory: machines, loud and industrial. It usually symbolizes death in life: often associated with dreams of dehumanization.
This one is more clear: a tayloristic slaughterhouse.

Animals often mean people, kinds of people. Rabbits are supposed to be innocent (except smoking ones). They could be children, as some one noted.

They are beheaded: a dehumanizing process makes them loose their mind, or castrates them (if we take the other meaning of "head"), making them loose their independence and potential.

You can't hear the rabbits screaming, it's a silent process. Yet you worry.
As for children, with the rabbits you don't know what good things they might do when they become adults, but certainly is a better future than being merely food.

Perhaps you are worried about some young people, perhaps you're worried about the child in you being eliminated and lost forever.

Just the well-known symbolisms, not a real explanation.

My overall take on dreams is similar to Heliotrope's (hi Heliotriope! Welcome!) in that I think they are basically random firings of neurons having to do with what you experienced that day (or in the time before you fell asleep.) We then take these random occurrences and organize them into a narrative -- back to my "humans will take chaos and narrate it into order at every opportunity" theme -- and I think the "meaning" comes from a) the dreamer's own interpretation and b) some general archetypes.

I definitely think of children with this one, too. Maybe something along the lines of eggs, contraception, all of these potential children (not to get too pro-lifey on ya) that are not being created. When an egg is released from an ovary and then is not fertilized, it hangs around for a while and then dies. So perhaps you are thinking about all of those dead eggs, possible children-to-be, that could be kids now but are not, and are thinking about letting one of those eggs go all the way to kid-dom.

Does that strike any kind of a chord? Confused

Embarrassed The purity of a new born (innocent) is being brought to a end via an abortion at a clinic. Stem cell reseach via food supply of the aborted, and being allowed to live as the circle of life continues. Embarrassed

Sorry for not replying to your replies - I think I got lost for a couple days. Thanks for all of your input ... I think dream interpretation's like ... yeah - definitely what you make of it, kind of - I feel that dreams can be interpreted on many levels - showing sort of the connection of everything, in this really ... cool way. Heheheh. (There's something wrong with my ability to explain ... sorry.)

Could it be, like, that I am having all these creative thoughts - ideas about, for example - magazine articles, potential new businesses, how to run my life - things that are not being ... even plotted out, or something - the ideas are getting cut down because I don't have the confidence or drive within myself or something?

That makes sense, Anastasia. And as you say, if it makes sense to you, that's probably it.

I also feel that images can be interpreted at different times, because of archetypal myth stuff. But I was wondering now, because of the procreation thing. All of the stuff I'm coming up with is superficial, having to do with "luck"and "happiness with children"

the dream's recurred, so I thought I'd revive this - see if there are any new thoughts?
