Both CNN and NBC/Wall Street Journal have Bush
slipping three points, from 42% job approval rating down to 39% now.
Looks like Bush's little boost from the 9/11 anniversary is over.
The slide continues-and gains momentum.
Time 36%
AP-Ipsos 38%
Pew 37%
Time's poll is especially noteworthy because it's last poll was released on August 22, sometime before Bush's 9/11 anniversary climb began.
Bush is not only coming down from a 9/11 anniversary boost, it looks like he is headed to a point below where he was when the boost started!
Since GW can not run for re-election, who really cares?
Well, it could have something to do with his party's policies, too!
Of course George still has more than 2 years left in his Rulership and the tide can change considerably by the end of 2008. Come to think of it, if the Democrats cannot demonstrate within the next 2 years, that they have the ability to head the country in what they perceive to be as a better direction, Bush may well leave office with a higher approval rating than even Teddy Roosevelt had...of course they didn't bother with the frivolity of useless pollings back then.
Polls and results are always comical to me for any number of reasons. One which springs to mind is how election results often turn out. Another is how many people in pollings submit an answer which is to the opposite of what they believe and/or think (which is of course why after vote results are often so far off from what the polls showed). Years back, I do not recall just when but somewhere in the 1980s (may have been just before Reagan had his second win) I was confronted with a telephone survey on who I would vote for. During the survey several names were read off to which I was to respond as to having heard of them or not having ever heard of them. The name Jerry Falwell was one of the names. The interviewer herself had never heard of Falwell. Now, if an interviewer or poll conductor has never heard of a person on the list, perhaps they are the first person to introduce the name to the person being surveyed. Perhaps after the survey has been conducted and concluded both persons will head out and search for information on the person who they had previously not heard of. Weeks later, survey results would be different. In other words, polls are worthless. Besides which, 80 years from now the history books will tell a different tale from whatever angled malarkey is being spewed right now (from all sides).
bush has left out country in disgrace.... IMO.... therefore I think it would be appropriate for him to leave office in discgrace although the self centered prick probably isn't capable of feeling shame or disgrace..... that part of his makeup seems to be missing... a birth defect if you will....

Which OUT country would that be BipBear?

At least he didn't get the old impeachment thing going...
and from what I've heard tell he feels immense shame on having neglected shelling your pecans last year.

if all else fails, bring up the blow job eh sturgis? get some new material.
and although out was an obvious typo, one could say we're the country that has become out... out of money, out of respect in the world, out of a united country, out of luck if things don't change.

Touchy aren't you? I never said anything about the Clinton Oral History...I merely mentioned the fact that Bush has not faced any impeachment hearings. That alone tells you he is more respectable and decent than his immediate predecessor.

which other impeachment hearings were you refering to? Because the fact you say it makes him more respectable than his immediate predecessor would certainly tend to make one think you were inferring Clinton... but maybe I'm wrong. Maybe you meant Nixon.
Are you taking those meds as properly prescribed BipBear?
Sturgis, you are an intelligent, well-spoken guy, so can I ask you an honest but off topic question in my own thread?
You have made it clear that you are a gay Republican, or at least a gay conservative. When it comes to voting, there is not much difference between these two things.
Why do you stick with a group of people who pride themselves so much in hating you? Up to now, you have only had to deal with Republicans' snide put-downs and their snubbing of you at virtually every opportunity.
However, with the Foley scandal unfolding, it is clear that Plan A for the GOP was to throw your group under the bus as quickly as possible to deflect any blame from themselves. Conjuring up images of an evil cabal of homosexuals shielding the nefarious activities of the pedophile from the righteous indignation of the God-fearing Republican leadership.
Why do you put yourself through this? How can you actually think that, despite some agreement with them on some issues, there really is any light for you at the end of the Republican tunnel?
