So it must be that your "true christians" have a special redacted version of the Bible that has blacked out all of the messages in the Bible that inspire the haters such as Westboro Baptist Church. One thing you can say for those folks, they backup all of their despicable hatred with biblical references.
Here are just a couple of entries from the
FAQ on their website.
Quote:Why do you preach hate?
Because the Bible preaches hate. For every one verse about God's mercy, love, compassion, etc., there are two verses about His vengeance, hatred, wrath, etc. The maudlin, kissy-pooh, feel-good, touchy-feely preachers of today's society are damning this nation and this world to hell. They are telling you what you want to hear rather than what you need to hear, just like what happened in the days of Isaiah and Jeremiah: "That this [is] a rebellious people, lying children, children [that] will not hear the law of the LORD: Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits: Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us." Isaiah 30:9-11; "Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart." Jeremiah 14:14; "They have healed also the hurt [of the daughter] of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when [there is] no peace. Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time [that] I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the LORD." Jeremiah 6:14-15. And also in the New Testament we are warned: "For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision: Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake. One of themselves, [even] a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians [are] alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies. This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith." Titus 1:11-13; "But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of." II Peter 2:1,2. What you need to hear is that God hates people, and that your chances of going to heaven are nonexistent, unless you repent. What you need to hear is a little fire and brimstone preaching, like Jesus preached. What you don't need to hear is that you're okay just the way you are, and God accepts everyone without exception. Don't listen to the money-grubbing heretic who stands at the front of your church. Listen to God. If you are one of His elect, you'll hear.
Why do you preach hate
Quote:Doesn't the Bible say that God loves everyone?
No. You are probably thinking of John 3:16, which says no such thing. The word translated "world" in that verse (kosmos) NEVER means every individual of mankind who has ever lived (see, e.g., John 17:9). Romans 9:13 says that God hated Esau, and Psalm 5:5 says that God hates all WORKERS of iniquity (e.g., fags). Other examples are Proverbs 6:16-19, Psalm 11:5, and Malachi 1:3. Given these verses, how can you say God loves everyone? Can you really say "God loves everyone" when God says "I hated Esau?" Does God love the people in hell?
Or, you are thinking of "God is love." God certainly is love, toward His elect (His children). But He certainly is not love toward the reprobate (children of the devil). That's why His elect go to heaven, and the reprobate go to hell. In Romans 9:13, which says "As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated", Jacob is a representative of God's elect, while Esau is a representative of the reprobate. In Romans 1, the word "reprobate" is used to describe fags. Fags are reprobate. God hates reprobates. Therefore, God hates fags.
Furthermore, God specifically says that He ABHORS people who engage in sodomy (as well as other forms of sexual perversion): "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood [shall be] upon them...And ye shall not walk in the manners of the nation, which I cast out before you: for they committed all these things, and therefore I abhorred them." Leviticus 20:13,23. Understand? GOD ABHORS FAGS.
God's hatred is one of His holy attributes, whereby He reveals Himself as having a fixed and immutable determination to punish the finally impenitent with eternal perdition. God's hatred is not like man's hatred. His hatred is holy, pure, unchanging, while man's hatred is a sinful, fickle emotion.
Doesn't the Bible say that God loves everyone?

Quote:Kate, what would you have us call the millions of self-proclaimed Christians who don't quite meet your definition of Christianity. You say they aren't Christians, but what are they?
JPB why not scroll up to the first page and read some of the first posts i wrote......Christ said to love everyone.....He also said if we dont love everyone then we arent his disciples.....So its not "my definition of christianity" ITs what Christ taught.....but if you want to judge all christians by a few hateful false christians without seeing if what they believe lines up with what Christ taught then you have that right...and i will say that you are also filled with narrowmindedness and bigotry.....and that is just sad......
mesquite....first off you should read those verses that nutty church uses....none of those verses condone christians having hate or murdering people......the ones in the old testament are of God judging ...the ones in the nt are warning christians to beware of false teachers and to rebuke them....but that church you posted from didnt add all the verses....the bible tells us to rebuke IN LOVE......not with hatred or condemnation...
as to God hating esau....emotion isnt the point here ..Paul is quoting malachi to show that God chose israel to bless and edom to judge...God can judge and condemn bc he is God but we do not have the authority or right to do so....and Christ himself said to love our enemies not to hate anyone...
matthew 5:44 But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
that church leaves out key verses and just twists what they want...as do all false christians.....also that same church has gone around the country (even near where i live) and stood outside christian churches screaming and condemning bc we as christians dont hate people as they do.....It would be wise to get both sides and learn more about christianity and its people bf you paint us all in the same light........
Why didn't you answer my question?
JPB....i dont think there are millions of "self proclaimed christians" that hate and kill and torture.......that is what this thread is about and that is what ive been speaking of...and i already answered.....those that hate and kill are not christians bc if they were disciples of Christ they would follow his words........and actually Christ warned of false christians that reject his teachings......
No, I'm talking about the millions of self-proclaimed Christians who don't meet your definition of "True Christians". If they aren't Christians, what are they? Or, is it just hate, kill, and torture that disqualifies someone from not being a disciple?
Ah, false Christians! I see it now, they get to be Christians, but false Christians.
You're right, Kate. I need to not have this discussion on this thread (and quite possibly not on any thread) because as much as I admire most of the Christians I know, the "True Christians" truly make me ill.

i already said that to be a disciple of Christ one has to follow his teachings.......that isn't too complicated to understand.......
hmmmmm, what is the difference between a disciple of Jesus and a disciple of Christ?
Maybe there is a reasoned impetus behind the thrust of what you're doing JPB, but it sure seems like you're just stirring up shyt.
Oh, PLEASE!!! Tell me you don't have buttons, snood. Mine happens to be Christians who go around telling other people that they aren't Christian, so unless you're willing to back off of your buttons, please back off of mine.
Quote:hmmmmm, what is the difference between a disciple of Jesus and a disciple of Christ?
Christ and Jesus are the same person.........
Reallly, Kate? Christ was a person?
Yes lol......Christ was Gods son ....Christ means annointed one Jesus is the transliteration for the greek Ieosus that is Joshua in hebrew meaning Salvation is of God.........Both names were given to GOds son who came to earth and died on the cross and rose from the grave on the third day....Through him we are given the opportunity to have eternal life with God and forgiveness of sins
..other names include Messiah, Rock, Lamb of God, Immanuel.......
does that help?
What's so funny? Is that a mocking laugh? Not exactly truly Christian of you, is it? So, if I am a humanist and accept the teachings of Jesus and live by them, am I a Christian?
It is not necessary to spell christian with a capital c.

Man, what's buggin you? I just think you're the only one here picking a fight....
JPB dont be so paranoid i wasnt mocking you..it was just a smiley face i have done that with many posts..and i was just giving all the names of Christ so that you wouldnt have to ask if Messiah or Lamb of God or Immanuel all refer to Jesus..........
Again, you didn't answer my question, Kate.
