Photoshop Trial

Oh
my
god.

Photoshop is awesome. How anyone who ever takes digital photos could ever live without it is beyond me. Laughing

Anyway, back to reality. I dowloaded the 30 day trial of photoshop to make sure that it was really what I wanted. No need to spend money on yet another software package I hate. (I currently have 3 different ones)

There is SO MUCH to do, I didn't even know where to start. So, I hopped right into selective colorization. I love that....it has got to be my favorite thing to do now with my pictures. Laughing My hubby was like "What is it with you and black and white?" I love black and white, and adding that splash of color is sweet. I will be buying the actual software the minute my free trial runs out. They have me hooked.

Here are two I was working on this weekend. I love the pool one especially.

OOH! Looks good!

I have Photosuite, just to touch things up a bit, but it would seem that I will have to investigate this one.

Wonderful pics, Bella.

Lovely, really lovely. I have Photoshop Elements, which is a stripped down version of Photoshop. I have never mastered the dern program, even though I have taken a course in it. At this point in time, Picasa is about as fancy as I get. One of these days..............................

That's what I mean...Photoshop Elements.

You mean, there's MORE in the regular Photoshop?? Shocked (I know it's about $200 more expensive...but...)

Yeah, but from what I understand, unless you are a professional photographer, you really don't need it all. I belong to a photography club. They have Photoshop CS on their computers in their lab, so I could use it. Problem is, I still haven't mastered Photoshop Elements, so I'll quit while I'm ahead! Laughing

If you are or know a student or teacher you can get an educational version of photoshop for cheap at places like campustech.com

Photoshop at CampusTech

It is the full version... you just can't use it for professional use.

Nice photos, Bella!

I use Photoshop 7, which is the version before CS. I can't imagine needing anything more. Questioner, a missing A2Ker who was a graphic artist, swore by CS but he said the applications were more for graphic artists than photographers.

Because of CS, you can get great prices on Photoshop 7 but from what I understand Elements is a great program for the serious amature.

Have fun!

There is a very powerful free equivalent of Photoshop.

It is written by researchers and does a bit less handholding than Photoshop (but is not hard to pick up), and can do all the neat tricks that Photoshop can do.

Check out www.gimp.org

It is well written and available free. The best thing is there is a lot of help, tips and cool stuff available online from a thriving open source community.

CS and CS2 has nice touch up tools that 7 does not have (I'm not sure if elements has them but I would doubt it does) like the patch, healing brush and spot healing brush tools. It also has adobe bridge packaged with it which is a very nice navigation tool to manage your pictures, a nice photomerge tool, and some cool batch processing items.

I would say that the leap from 7 to CS is one of the best improvements Adobe made from version to version.

Elements has the healing brush...the one that takes out zits and stuff? That tool is so cool. Very Happy
