@Lordyaswas,
Murray played very badly - he seemed to have given up even before he lost the first set - wonder if Nadal going out and Sharapova being beaten somehow affected him? Federer and Djokovic worried me too - I was convinced that they'd both go out - so glad I was wrong.

@vonny,
And then Kyrgios lost, but he tried, he tried.

@ossobuco,
Oh no! I didn't know that - what a pity - I had great hopes for him progressing a lot further ...

@ossobuco,
Kyrgios was brilliant!

He had the aussie singers there in the crowd....in between games, an almost constant "Let's go Nicky, let's go"

@Lordyaswas,
The Guardian blog guy was saying fairly early about how very tired he was getting, I think towards the end of the second set, and kept mentioning that. Not watching it, I can't judge, but assuming he was leg weary fairly early, he kept going and going and kept his serve pretty well for a lot of it. (Just now I can't find that particular play by play, grrr.)

4 - 4 fifth and final set.

This has now been going for about four hours.

Great Final.

Great match!

Can't understand why they have to play in the middle of the night, finished at 3.30am and I need to be up at 6.30!

Don't expect too much at work today!

@panzade,
In many ways the match was a panoply of emotional effects, positive or negative, on tennis ball hitting by two exceptionally great players.

Well, this is fun, er, to me - a Lauren Collins article in the New Yorker about Djokovic. It starts out a little florid but interesting; I'm only on page one, but had to post this as others may enjoy it. Hey, the pages are short. I'd quote, but better you should read up to take the sense of it. Some of his antics are why I grew to like him.

@ossobuco,
I read all nine pages of the article - it's really comprehensive and gives a lot of background information on Djokovic, and what makes him tick. Thank you for the link.

@ossobuco,
That was a great article osso; read it some time ago. Helped me like Djok more. He's not had an easy life.

@panzade,
I already got to like him via some article somewhere a while ago, or at least stopped not liking him. I still haven't read the rest yet.

@ossobuco,
Panz, I realise now I read this before, and the article is reprinted (they do that). The first print of this is where I got to like him.
