I was on the Whirlpool website registering my new dehumidifier. After the registration bs, they alway ask some survey questions:

Quote:
1. Rate the store where you purchased your appliance.

* Excellent *Good * Fair *Poor * NA

2. Rate the salesperson.

* Excellent *Good * Fair *Poor * NA

3. Would you recommend this product to someone else?

* Recommend * Undecided *Not recommend

4. Would you travel overseas for a hip replacement if it cost 50% less?

* Yes * No

Um, excuse me? Hip replacement? WTF do you care? You sell washing machines?

Does the machine have a "hip"?

There's nothing much "hip" about a dehumidifier.

Well, why not?

Not that I've been shopping for hip replacements, but a bargain's a bargain.

c'mon, a new hip and the chance to see the inside of a real romanian medical facility, sounds like the ideal vacation

You make it sound very tempting. Romania in the springtime is lovely, I'm sure.

Just as weird, I just found this description on a portable clothes washer:

Quote:
No plumbing needed, Attached carry handle for eating toting

"Eating toting"? Who eats a tot?

India is using Western Trained doctors to convince Americans that hip surgery can be outsourced.

Also cosmetic surgery.

Also bypass surgery.

The "cost" includes the surgery and hotel accommodation for companion. Also air fare.

I've heard of this, Noddy. What I find so bizarre is why Whirlpool is asking this question in a survey about my appliance buying experience.

Swimpy--

My guess is that not everyone mails back warranty cards, but that people who do tend to be fairly sophisticated and savvy about value.

Hence they are a good target group to explore the possible popularity of outsourced surgery.

But is Whirlpool getting into the body part business? At least I would expect the new hip would have an ice dispenser.
