Hmmm, gotta work on that. I'm only aware of them any more with "help," and even then they're not as vivid as they were back then.

(How ya been, soz?)

Very nice, Setanta. That seems to include it all........not merely some fragmented part of a better whole........

See me . . .
Fee-ee-eel me . . .
Touch me . . .
Heal me . . .

Listening to you,
I get the music.
Gazing at you,
I get the heat.
Following you,
I climb the mountains.
I get excitement at your feet.
Right behind you,
I see the millions.
On you,
I see the glory.
From you,
I get opinions.
From you,
I get the story.

I've been fat, I've been thin - thin is healthier

Having retired from a large corporate entity a few years ago I cannot begin to explain the relief of no longer being envolved in a competative environment where being Alpha female was the goal. Fortunately I had a union so I didn't have to play THA GAME.

I trucked all my uniforms (office suits) to Morgan Memorial and wear very fashionably worn blue jeans and t' s. Much better to dig holes in the ground, paint at my easel and haul my antiques around for my business

Moving to Hawaii I had to give up my marvelous hair stylist at Saks 5th and have gone back to au natural, and wear my hair shoulder length, it is brown in the back and silvery white in the front befitting a respectable tutu (that's grandmother in Hawaiian).

(oh if you are in Boston and need a hairdresser, do give Maynard at Saks 5th a call, he is a master at smoke and glass).

Unfortunately Hugh Hefner has created what I call the centerfold society because of PlayBoy and the criteria for beauty that it projects is pathetic.

To me beauty is a soft word, beauty is sincerity, beauty is being there for your partner, beauty is nurturing those you care about and being there for them when they are scared.

It's not what you look like that counts, it's what you are inside as a human being - anthing less is shallow ego trip.

I was thinking back a few years ago when I read Helen Hurley Brown's book Sex and the Single Girl and was appalled by the extent women would go to endulge their raging hormones and get their man, or somebody's man.

oh well each to their own said Mrs. O'leary as she kissed the cowl

Vision is not part of the visually impaired person's world, by definition. And that's fine and pleasant for some. But still, there is something to be said for visual stimulation when it's possible. I like it myself. I love seeing and being seen. Watching is fun too. But it's not for everyone.........I know. And there's no requirement for it to be so. But those of us who enjoy the visual are free to do so without criticism, I think. What turns a person on is a personal, idiosyncratic characteristic. Feeling motivated or stimulated by physical beauty (however it's defined by each individual) is not a bad thing in and of itself. To each his own.

I still see them, quite vividly. It is how I get myself to go to sleep when I am not particularly sleepy -- I try to focus on them as they whirl, then I manipulate them until they are a sort of a tunnel, then I descend into the tunnel -- sort of down the rabbit hole -- and boom I'm asleep. (Being able to fall asleep at a moment's notice is a handy trick, especially for dragging a recalcitrant baby into dreamland with you.)

I remember those - only they were more like flocks of whirling THINGS - used to scare me when I was wee, if I was awake for a long time.

Why are they not so vivid now?

G- the gf's stepsister is not just asleep the moment her head hits the pillow, it's asleep the moment it hits the sofa, the chair, the airplane window... she can sleep through anything, and is there in no time flat.

That said, you're abnormal -- or idiosyncratic -- just like almost everybody else.

Hey, Lola. Good to see you (hee hee hee).

Perhaps we've less loose, undifferentiated wiring in our heads now. I never have been able to get back to that tactile connection to those things. And the textures I felt weren't really analogous to any real textures. They were some other sort of texture. And I rather liked them, wasn't scared of them at all.

Then I figured out that turning on the light suddenly would make me sneeze, which for some reason was more entertaining, and I sort of lost track of my little tricks. And other distractions came with puberty...

Er, but this is about the importance of comportment, ain't it? Sorry.

When I was wee, I remember many times when I would be laying in bed at night, in the dark, watching the floaty patterns, the crystal castles (there's a scientific word for these, but I ferget it) and sometimes they would get so intense I could feel them on my skin and tongue.

And this was before any drugs, unless I was eating from the wrong cookie jar or something. Weird kid, I guess.
