I want my best friend from Albq to come to Austin after we are unpacked and settled in.

her and I are thinking sometime mid sept.

Where can I find cheap round trip tickets?

Priceline?
Or is it better to just go straight to an airlines website?

Cheap for me is under 200 bucks

kayak.com searches each individual airline and reports the prices to you. You can not book them from the kayak website but I usually get cheaper prices on there than on priceline and other discount sites who doesn't report every price due to deals with certain airlines.

Using some European sites (like opodo, expedia), I got Continental as cheapest airline, from $200 on weekdays to about $250 over the weekend ... including all taxes and booking fee(s).

When I flew from Chicago to Albuquerque in May, it was $100 cheaper to fly around noon and change the plane in Denver (I flew UA, since it was a Lufthansa flight) than a direct one in the morning or later.
(This flight alone took me an hour to find!)

I usually do a search on orbitz and expedia as this will summarize rates for various airlines nicely for you - then go directly to the airline as they often give a discount (depending on the flight) for buying online.

After that I will check directly on Southwest and Jet Blue as they don't appear on orbitz- depending where you are going/leaving as they don't go everywhere.

I have done all of the tips given,

checked all of the sites suggested and the running price seems to be in the ball park of 300.00.
Wich is not do-able for me.
Sad

Walter, you said that you found a cheaper ticket due to the time you picked for your flight?

maybe I need to alter my time frame some and see if that helps.

Thank you everyone. Smile

Booking in the middle of the night can be cheaper too. Try after midnight...I've heard some people say they got some pretty good deals booking at night. Weird but worth a shot.
