Usually, standard 2 channel audio output, or for front left & right channels with multichannel audio cards,willl be the green jack - it often has a speaker symbol next to it. The pink jack should be microphone in, the blue should be line level in. If yours is a multi-channel soundcard, usually black is rear left & right, and yellow is center channel and subwoofer.

Headphones can be plugged into the green jack in lieu of speakers if the machine doesn't offer a front panel headphone connection. While some computer speakers are "passive", or unpowered, more typical is a powered speaker configuration, requiring either batteries or a mains power connection for speaker amplifier power as well as the connection to the audio out jack for speaker signal. Also available are USB speakers - those are powered by the USB connection.
