What happens when he Iraqi government wants a timetable..

The rumor is that in the next couple of days the Iraqi prime minister will call for a new plan for bringing peace to his country.

It will include a time table for the withrdrawral of US (and foreign) troops as well as an amnesty for insurgents (including those who attacked Americans).

This raises a couple of interesting questions.

1) Do we really support the elected government of a sovereign Iraq?
2) Do we really want a peaceful stable Iraq independant of US intervention?

It is going to be very interesting to see what happens.

The answer in my opinion to both questions is no. Yes, this will be very interesting.

I don't know the answer to either question so I'm just reading along to fill in my blanks.

My answer would be yes, give them one. Iraqi politics has always been a contact sport and these guys probably know best how to play it. It would be wise to let them alone as they know the rules better than we do.
