I'm sure they have very legitimate excuses, er... reasons for not wanting their machines tested for accuracy.

And as soon as they make some up, I know they'll get back to us!

Let's go back to paper ballots and hand counting.

Is that because they are much more accurate?

If they are written in English, and you use a good pen to mark your "X" in the box right next to the persons name, and the counter can read, and the counter is properly supervised, I would suspect it would be more accurate and there would be little doubt.

Could someone "payoff" the counter to steer the votes to someone else? Yes, but if the counter knows they would be shot if that ever happened, that might offset that risk.

I just can't imagine anyone not wanting these machines tested for accuracy. Except the manufacturers, of course.

As many serious security flaws are found in computer systems these days, I'd say they need to really step up their testing.

It's a funny thing, we can securely send millions of dollars electronically, we can access the most sensitive financial information at any ATM with relative safety and accuracy, yet we can't seem to quite figure out electronic voting?

As an aside, it seems to me that, in this day and age, if we can file our taxes over the internet, we ought to be able to vote the same way.

Well, right now your vote is secret.

Additionally, I can think of a number of ways that Internet voting would create problems.

I say we abolish voting, spend the day at the pub playing darts. Majority rules is an abomination.
