Why do US mass media keep silence?

Yeah, I wonder! US ambassador in Ukraine John Herbst announced that entire operation in Crimea was purely peaceful and that those ships brought just civil staff and building materials for improvement of Ukrainian military infrastructure. But for some reason mass media forgot to mention shooters that also were on board and that firstly this landing was made under pretence of NATO maneures. Does anyone in US aware about it? Common Americans even haven't known about unloading of those ships (do they know about those ships at all?)! Of course who would care about something like Crimean peninsula or even joining to NATO of economically backward Ukraine (another excuse for this event)? But also they don't know a single thing about that fact that Ukrainians practically kicked US forces out of Crimea!!! The situation was on the edge of one more military conflict and USA mass media seemingly is sleeping and putting good face on things. Some of American journalists on the BBC air told that he keeps up with succession of Crimean events just by Russian television! How can it be ladies and gentlemen?

It's because we find you boring. Oh, and there are no common Americans--we are all uncommon.

Good question. I have no idea.
It seems that there are some things the media will just not touch. You mentioned one example. Another example is Bush inserting his "signing statements" as essentially a line-item veto (when he does not have that power). Then there's the general "who cares" attitude when it comes to Africa, where there are genocides left and right, as well as the highest population of AIDS/HIV infected individuals in the world.

Maybe it's not sensationalistic enough, maybe they'll think it's too confusing for the average American. Who knows?

Hello, Ghostbuster & welcome to A2K. Very Happy
As an Australian of Ukrainian descent I don't find you boring at all.
I'd be interested to know more.
I have no real idea of what constitutes news-worthiness in the US media, or with the US public. US internal & external interests, mainly, I'd guess. But you're not alone. They're not interested in anything that happens in my country, either.
