It may have been the sound of the Republicans shooting themselves in the collective foot . . . yet again.

The Voice of America has justed posted the following report:

Police Investigating Reports of Gunfire on Capitol Hill
By VOA News
26 May 2006

Police in Washington, D.C say they are investigating reports of the sound of gunfire at a Congressional office building on Capitol Hill.

The sound of shots was reported in a garage beneath the Rayburn building, which holds offices of members of the House of Representatives.

There have been no reports of injuries or any gunman.

The Rayburn building is part of the multi-building Capitol Hill complex, which houses both the Senate and the House. Police briefly placed much of the complex under lockdown, but they now appear to be concentrating solely on the Rayburn building.

In the News, an online news source in England, reports that people ("several witnesses) claimed to have smelled smoke, and that there were "heavily armed police running through the corridors."

Yeah, I'm surprised there are no eye-witnesses to the "shots heard" (I saw a black man running down the hall with a Uzi)

I say we send the one who reported gunfire to Iraq for a little while.
