I voted for Rome, but I believe other destinations would be less costly to travel to - that is IF I can stay out of a hospital long enough to even think of travelling. ANOTHER GREAT IDEA, as always!
My timing is pretty well fixed as April, perhaps into early May.
Costs are considerable - coming from this end of the earth. And the 24 hours of flying is not much fun, either!
No established itinerary as yet - but may include France, Spain and/or Italy
After having been here for nine months I'd say I can really recommend Barcelona. It's not too expensive, the weather is usually good and there's a lot going on.
I also really like London but it's so expensive.
Unfortunately I won't be able to come wherever the meeting will take place because I'll be in Australia next year...

I didn't understand it the way that "the winner" is the finally chosen place ... but if it was so, it's okay.

Yes, Walter, time to start dates for one or more places. I've had a scurrilous (spelling?) couple of days and have been waiting to obtain sanguinity to work up a poll for dates.
First thing we need is when the family hoidays are, so as to avoid planning on those dates.
Re the date poll, do we do Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... or
key times.
If we do a poll of key times, which makes sense, I think we need to talk more.
Surely we will have a spring vacation time, but that may vary for people, and a post school time, and that may vary for people, and
a spring time, not related to school
and a fall time, not related to school
Perhaps instead of having some kind of cataclysmic runoff, some of us can meet at different times, some in different places.
Before I or anyone else posts a poll, let's try to narrow times down a bit.
So... as before, we all have different dates we could possibly go. Never mind that right now...

School holidays vary in Europe from state to state, from region to region ...
Generally, there are (up to) two weeks around Easter and the period from late June to the end of August/early September.
No idea how to word the poll - and what should be polled now.
(So it is Barcelona?)
On this poll, Barcelona had the most numbers, and then Vienna, and then London.
I think of these as opportunities, not as closeouts for where you can fly to, to meet other a2kers.
I think we should work up likely dates, starting with Barcelona, and maybe the places will distinguish themselves as to people and date. All those wanting to throw a matrix over this, propose... my own instinct is to just listen. Maybe we will all meet in Paris.
Possibly not this year.

Easter, April 16, 2007. I'm not clear on Passover, even having looked it up.
I was in Rome once on Easter, me the ultimate lapsed Catholic. Spittiing tacks intellectually, I loved all the women in good suits wheeling baby carriages...
Me, given that easter is the 16th, I think a nice lasadaisacal time would be just the week or two after...

Declare we are going to Barcelona and offer some dates to suit yourself. People will soon let you know if its inconvenient and we can change dates if necessary.
