Has anyone visited any of the NE Parks & Forests and had a particularly good time?
I have been looking at a few that I havent been to yet and wondering if anyone had anything more to input.
Id be looking for CT, Mass, NH mostly.
Right now, Im awaiting information on
Savoy-CT
Mohawk-MA & Myles Standish-MA
So...lovely ideas <heck--even 'stay the heck away froms'> are greatly appreciated.

You mean camping and hiking parks rather than green space parks?

I love love love climbing Mt Monadnock. It's an easy dayhike with a great view. Good 3 out of 4 seasons (winter works, but you need some good clothing). I don't think there's camping at the mt, but there might be.

There's a reservation around the Quabin Resevoir with good wildlife. I know there are hiking trails, but not sure if there's camping. And, since 9/11 I know their upped security has limited visitors' ability to move about a bit.

Cape Cod has Nickerson State Park with camping and trails, but I've never really been there, just drive by it.

Yes, Im looking into finding something that would be both semi-local..enough to be away but, without that whole drive for a day thing that also has camping/cabins so I can right there in the thick of it.
I like Mt. Monadnock as well, it is a nice day thing to do. If I do Savoy..Mt. M isnt so far, could be a possibility. Im not in the shape to do Mt. Washington although, Ive been there..done that already so..I just want new stuff to see with the same similarities.
Im thinking the Cape would be busy...no matter when i go really and I dont believe there is much in small hiking there, although it could be good walking wilderness...Ill have to check that out.
Thanks k.

I love Arethusa Falls in New Hampshire. Some places suggest it's difficult, but I'm a lazy twerp and I made it all the way up there. It's really beautiful and if it's warm there a nice slick rock pool at the bottom to splash around in. They also say not to climb to the top of the falls. Someone might hurt their wittle selves. ooohhh scary. pppbbttthhh. Pack a lunch and boogie on up there. The left side next to the falls seems to be the easiest.

As far as camping, I stayed in a closed campground that involves driving into a ditch and through the woods. Then you pay a drunk guy $5 and he lets you stay on the campground. It was fun, but it might not be the best choice. Unless you have a body to bury, then it's perfect!

If you've been a member of the MA Audubon Society for at least one year, you can camp at Wellfleet Bay.

Sug...hey, the whole thing sounds great...I especially would like to give money to some drunk guy to drive through the woods Wink Really though...I liked the first link of the falls..excellent shot! I actually did a whole Mt Washington/Appalachian Trail Weekend of hiking and did a couple 1-2 mile hikes up to falls...I dont think it was that one but, they are probably about the same...but, I do like the idea of an ice cream stand in some strange way.

Piffka...thanks for the heads up on the Audubon Soc. added extra, could come in handy someday.

Ive actually been looking around and getting those great and wonderful state agency brochures...much quicker to find things on line but, you just never know what you'll find.

Mass Scenic:

And this site also has links to all sorts of recreation/camping, etc.
