Maybe I'm amazed at the way I leave you.
So.
Mo went to say "hi" to the neighbors today and ended up spending the afternoon working in their garden.
I went over a couple of times to see if he wanted to come home but he was being a big help and was welcomed to stay as long as he wanted.
They even took him to pick up some food to pay him for all of his hard work.
Neighbor dropped him back off and told me that "you have done a good job with this boy. He really helped P. in the garden today and he was such a good boy, so nice, so polite".
He went on to compare Mo with his own grandchildren and insisted the Mo was an absolute delight to have around - such a hard worker -so responsible.
This is really the first time Mo has spent so long with anyone by his own inclination.
I feel like my entire body is going to disinitigrate with pride and love.
Happy me.
Just thought I'd share my happy happy self.
Ahhhhh, that's so wonderful! :-D
Wow, great work, Boomer. Big brave Mo. Wow......
Thank you all!
I know that it is probably totally silly to be so proud of him for something like this but for both of us it was a really big step. More for him than for me, even.
I have known neighbor for 12 years so I know he wouldn't put up with any nonsense so I feel certain that no nonsense went on. When I checked in Mo was helping haul stuff to the recycle bin.
B and P, my neighbors are both old and they keep saying that they're giving up gardening because it is so hard on their knees and backs. Today they said that having Mo there to help was really a joy and that it made everything so much easier for them.
I'm so proud I could pop....
... or cry....
... or.... something.
What an amazing boy he is.
There has never been a luckier person on the planet than me.
Ah, the simple joys of motherhood--and you've earned them.
Ain't it great!!!
Those are the moments we live for, boomer. Enjoy every single teeny tiny itty bitty second of it.
Awwwwwwwww!
Well done Mo and the Boomers!
Wonderful, boomer. You have every reason to feel proud - of yourself and of Mo.
you know,
the impression I got from Mo was pretty much the same thing.
All i wanted to do was grab his little hand and go hunt bugs and play in the dirt with him.
Given what you have said about where your son has come from, you should be bursting with pride .
He is one fabulous kiddo...
I am so very late to this party.
These are the moments that make me burst with pride too: when others see what you see in him, and when he is about the very best boy that he possibly could be. I can only imagine how much more proud you are given his start in life. I know the thrill has probably passed, but I was going to say to enjoy the moment. And I'll bet it made Mo proud too if he overheard any of your neighbor's comments.
I'm even later freeduck.
So let him wear his costume, Boomer (your other thread). He's just doing his little thing and being the great little kid that he apparently is. Again...if that's the worst he does, consider yourself blessed.
Thank you all!
He really is a good kid. A little quirky but a good kid nonetheless.
He WAS very proud of himself!
This is gonna sound like a downer, but i think it is useful to point this out. When he gets to be an adolescent, he'll be handful--all adolescents are, and with his background, you may have some real difficulties.
When that happens, and doubt not that it will, you will have memories such as this to get you through the rough times. Cherish them.
Yeah, that is kind of a downer but good advice.
I KNOW it won't get any easier.
I will always cherish such memories.
Good on Mo! And good on you for letting him do it!
Awwww! I can just see your beaming face. That there is a Hallmark moment.
