Just today, I showed a picture of my brother to a friend who has never met him. The picture was taken in March when he came to Germany for a short visit. My friend said "Oh, that's your brother? He's an old man... I bet he was very handsome when he was younger...'" That did kinda shock me! Of course she is right - well, not completely wrong, anyway. He is almost 46 but I never saw him that way... And he is NOT an old man!!!

Certainly not with only 46 years of age, urs.
It is too late for us but I think I'll start a series like the one pictured for my daughter. Every year, same time, same place, her picture will be taken and her wedding picture will finalize
the series.

Very good idea, CJ! I am sure she will be happy about that - if not now, then one day in the future :-)

That is cool, CJane!
Every year on Mo's birthday I take his photo with the stick where we measure his height so I have a chonology kind of like that.
So far I have only printed them up as individual prints but now I'm thinking I ought to collage them into one, too!

Oh, if you don't mind, I would love to see the collage later

Sure thing!
I was just looking and the only one still on my hard drive is last years so it will take a little digging to find them all. One or two might be on film with will make it a bit harder to dig up.
I really need to take a stricter approach to my home filing of photos. You think I'd know better than to let things jumble.

looking at the pictures of the sons in the link.
there is always one year between the age of 12 and 16 for each of them where they change from boys to men.
looking at the changes in the parents, guessing what years were the most challenging for them by the changes within 1 or 2 years.

Good observation, Chai. I think the mother looks the most
tired when the boys were teenagers. Now that they're older
she looks good again. She aged well, so did her husband
actually, but then again, men are usually more oblivious when
it comes to child rearing. The mother is the one who has
all the aggravation.

I saw pictures once that a father had taken of his daughter.
Before she was born, he bought a woman's swim suit. Every year on her birthday, he would take a picture of her wearing it.
When she was 19 it fit pretty good. It was one of those suits a la 1950's with the built in bra.
It was really cute when she was 5, 6, 7 and it was hanging off of her.

Here are more pictures that are quite interesting.
This time the photos are from kids and then years later as adults. Interesting!
Fascinating, what an interesting thing to do. It seems an obvious thing once I see it, at the same time I've never seen anyone photo study this before.
Adds, great thread.. I must have seen it before, but forgotten it.
Isn't it interesting?
I wonder how the photographer did the adult pictures. Either from an reenactment of the old ones or keeping in touch with the models all these years. Either way, it's a great individual photo history and it's nice to see
how people turned out in their physical appearance.
