I'll admit that at first I had some doubts whether a Soviet Specialist could meet the demands on a post-Soviet National Security Advisor. She appeared to excel in the job, and became one of the President's closest advisors. One had doubts whether a National Security Advisor had what it takes to be Secretary of State. Again, I've been pleasantly surprised at how well Ms. Rice has performed. The Office of Secretary of State has been in our political history a stepping stone to higher office. I think Ms. Rice has a promising future in elected politics, and may someday carry the Republican banner for the White House after she has been out on the hustings a time or two.

oeo is right. Blacks should remain in lockstep and increase their irrelevance. Makes it a breeze for us white devils.

Whoa! Hold the phone! Condi is "black"?!

All this time I thought she was a professional woman who was very intelligent and politically active! How dare she break out of the "weezie" Jefferson mold and try to do something to make her life and world better?

Apparently black people aren't allowed to be conservative. Naturally, the cure for disagreement is beating. Had you really done this, the appropriate result would be your arrest for assault.

Hilarious, Boss . . . you usually don't show up in political threads--but you've more than compensated for that lacuna with this post . . .

There's a big difference Brandon between being conservative and selling your soul to the devil.

Listen folks...there are just some things you guys will never, ever understand. Or will forever pretend that you don't. And that's understandable. It's just the way of the world.

As you were saying...Thank God for Condaleeza...carry on...

What has Condaleezza done that separates her from the rest of the incompetents and liars in the Bush administration?

Miss Rice may well be a liar; there is no good reason, however, to describe her as an incompetent.

Huh? What has she accomplished to prove her competence? Her lack of action before 9/11 could be considered incompetent vis a vis her statements about no one could imagined...as well her statements regarding the mushroom clouds...of course, maybe she was simply lying.

She didn't appear very competent when responding to Ben-Veniste's grilling. All that said, she is relatively less incompetent than the others and perhaps even sane!

Roxxxanne beat me to it. I have seen her on many Sunday morning shows and all she has ever been is to be a mouthpiece and apologist for the administration. Nothing of value has ever issued from her lips.

That you do not agree with the policies of this administration is not evidence that she is not competent. In my first post in this thread, i noted that personal loyalty to the Shrub, who has employed her since he was the Governor of Texas, likely motivates her more than anything else.

Simply failing to meet your approval with her policies is not evidence of incompetence. I grow sick of the avalanche of slander which knows no limit or decency.

I agree - we should only slander within limits and decency.

If there is a point to one's criticisms, that's fine. Neither Bush nor Rumsfeld are competent. Cheney is venal. Rice, for all that one may not care for her policies, is probably the only competent high-ranking member of the administration, other than perhaps Cheney, and there is no good reason to believe that she is venal.

Rice, I'm inclined to think, is quite likey the single most competent member of the Bush administration.
