Crying or Very sad

Ok, so things aren't as bad as crying, but I'm pretty fed up. Basically, I wanna know if anyone can help me broaden my horizons.

Ok, so I'm a pensions administrator, have been for 2 yrs and I hate it, buts it putting food on the table so I can't complain, but I'm gonna Very Happy cause you only have one life and I don't wanna waste it in pensions.

Right brief summary of history: Rolling Eyes

5 yrs at Art college with 3 recognised an GOOD diplomas. I love art. Left wanting to do special effects makeup.

I am currently studying CSCT lvl 2 in Counselling Skills, part time in the evenings

Only job I had, which I enjoyed was Youth Worker, but this was only part time, and I had to give it up, because I couldn't drive and I was testing friends patience with lifts(i'm now learning to drive). I was co-ordinating art projects with young people, getting them involved, getting me involved etc etc. It was excellent!!!!

I have seen positions available like Youth Arts Co-Ordinator, and Youth Development Officer for various local councils, but these come up few and far between. I have soken to the local councils and boroughs, but to no avail. I have also decided that I don't want to be a teacher!!!!!!!!!

Basically, I like working with Art, I like being involved and organising projects and I'm a people person. I don't think there's anything out there for me. I did look at doing volunteer work abroad, but to pay to be a volunteer kinda defies the point I feel. I also don't mind moving abroad to work/live. (I know the UK is pretty ikkle).

Is there anyone that can shed any light on my plight to being happy while I work? Anyone know of any cool companies/organisations that just do the greatest things?

If anyone can tell me of jobs/area's where I should be looking that would suit my need and I am overlooking , I would seriously be so appreciative.

I'll sit here, with my arms and legs crossed and wait........

Well, you don't want to be a teacher so Art Teacher is out. What about the area of therapy (yes, you'll need more schooling for this)? Occupational therapists use art in rehab therapy, but that's a lot of training. I believe there are more para-professional-type OTs who would need less education but would still work with people, doing art.

Lots of youth centers love the idea of exposing young people to art. Would you work with disadvantaged youth? Youthful offenders? These are areas wherein you'd work with people and could do a lot of good, through the medium of Art.

Oh yeah, welcome to Able2Know! :-D

Hmm, what about contacting someone to find out if there is an outreach program for youthful offenders who get community service. I am sure that some sentences require that these youths are sent to clean up parks, etc., etc. Are there any areas of the community that have been defaced and can be cleaned up and then perhaps new art replace it, such as murals on a park wall, etc.? Contact your local court-house, police station, whatever to find out more. Plus your artistic background could be used for a habitat homes project, where houses are built for poor families and are decorated, painted by volunteers. What an excellent way to help people and have fun with hard work at the same time!

Here are some unique ideas....

Greeting Card Companies need artists in many ways....they need artists to design the cards.....artisticly word the cards....and even to run the presses that print them.
How about a supervisory position in a printing press for the newspaper, magazines, brochures, posters etc...?
Check out Companies that make Billboards too!!! I once had to do a presentation in college about art that we see everyday... I choose billboards and it was a really fascinating process. Basically they use large tarps and scan an image into the computer then transfer it to a projector and onto the tarp...then the artist traces the projection and paints it.
It sounds like you enjoy helping people and getting creative.
I suggest you do what I did in that college art class...pretend like you have to give a presentation on artsy things that people see everyday....the next time your driving to work look at everything you see and buy that uses art in some way....call those companies and ask for human resources and find out if there is anything available that you would be a prime candidate for!!!
The best thing is you wouldn't need to go back to school...you already have the skills and desire...now you got some ideas on where to look.....enjoy your life a;nd quit that job youve got now....go find one that is "YOU".... Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing good luck
