A Scotland/English country scene...a castle like gray stone building jutting into a very blue sky...walls intact, but plants ascend the interior and spill over into the sunlight...ancient rectangular stone fences, colored green, touch noses, fade into the horizon...here and there modern homes appear out-of-place...cows graze...

@aidan,
Not to diminish you very original and thoughtful idea Aiden ... I just realized that your idea must have gotten under my skin unnoticed.

Just recently, I created this South Park rendition of Marietta (TheDivaden/Eurodiva) for the exact reason you have your father's photo on your desktop. I'm sure I put it up after I seen your post. Thanks for the unintentional inspiration:

Sorry for the cluttered desktop. I hate it that I forgot to dump the trash before taking the screenshot. I'm such a lousy housekeeper. Confused

@fbaezer,
grins.. being an LA girl.

I have one of the generic mac desktop choices, and for google, I pick a new photo every few months. Present one is some boats at what appears to be dusk.

Lake Como, from the restaurant at Villa D'Este, taken on my big birthday a few years back.

Fortunately, I'm not in it Cool (the picture, that is. I was in the restaurant!) (yikes - that's almost 5 years ago!)

@Phoenix32890,
When i got my computer 5 years ago then i tried to select all sort of wall papers but recently few months ago i came to know that the bright coloures of wall papers may damage my eyes so now i changed all my bright coloures and just select wall papers which are black and like that.

When I had a p.c., for many years, I used a plain sort of greenish turquoise color for my desktop. I would put my icons on the desktop, and found that a picture was distracting.

Now that I have an iMac, I use the default picture, "Aurora". It is very pretty, and since the icons are on the bottom of the screen, the distraction is gone.

@Phoenix32890,
Hi, Phoenix -

For desktop, I have one of the apple Plants; for screen saver, I have Nature Patterns; I miss getting to pick one of Google's backgrounds for the google entry page. Last had a neat photo of San Francisco.. before they announced they were stopping having backgrounds.
