I'm talking about the Three Stooges, of course. Are there any other Stooges who could even compare?
I may be the only woman you will ever know who will openly and unabashedly admit to liking the Three Stooges.
My favorite was Curly. I'm sure there are Moe people out there; and Larry probably has his fans too.
But for me, it was Curly all the way. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that the Curly years were the golden years for the Stooges. I submit that it was never the same for them after he died.
I once met a Shemp fan. Really. He told me that he thought Shemp was the best at the "drinking or eating something yucky and then throwing a fit" bit.
I thought that guy had to be kidding. No one could drink or eat something yucky and throw a better fit than Curly. He'd actually throw himself on the floor, go around and around in circles, while doing the "Woowoowoowoowoowoo," thing, that became his signature line.
I think Curly actually hurt himself doing some of those things, that's how dedicated he was!
So what do you think? Who's your favorite Stooge?
Btw, I have never wavered in my opinion about this, and I don't think I ever will.
I will always be loyal to Curly.
Curly, hands down. Did you watch the film biography of the Stooges a few years back? People actually tried to treat Curly that way in real life. A woman once stuck him in the eye with a cigar.
Yes, I did see that edgar! Poor Curly! I think he was a real sweetheart IRL.
I also thought it was sad how Moe was reduced to running errands around the studio lot in his old age, like a flunkie.
but which curly, there were two, sort of
i am a shemp fan, moe was too abrasive and larry was just too, well, larry
shemp seemed a little more on the ball than curly, not as sharp as moe (not that moe was any rocket scientist), but still able to hold his own, and as for the spit take on foul liquids, near perfection
curly, the real curly would certainly be second choice
Curly Joe was a pale imitation.
I mean the original Curly, not Curly Joe.
This might surprise you, but next to Curly, I thought Larry was the funniest. He could do a take -- or double take -- that would just crack me up. Then, of course, Moe would slap him.
Here's a little patter I heard the Stooges do once during a film:
Larry: I'm goin fishing tomorrow
Moe: You got worms?
Larry: Yeah, but I'm goin anyway....
Heee!
It took the three of them to hit on all cylinders, most of the time, but Curly could carry a lot on his own.
Curly Joe was a complete imposter.
The only real choice was Curly.
I mean, the pretend Bull imitation, the rapid self face slaps, the little noise he made when he got mad, the wrenched mouth and serious brow.
Moe is my second.
Shemp's hair made me dislike him. He was weak and passed out too quickly!
I love to watch Curly eat a bowl of soup.
I loved to see the Stooges at a typical "society" dinner. You always knew there'd be a good food fight!
I read somewhere that the true stooge fan first notices Curly. Then he begins to appreciate Moe's contributions. The pinnacle is reached when he realizes that Larry is the key to the whole act. Well, that's one opinion; I'm stuck on Curly like everybody else here so far.
But I'm keeping a closer eye on Larry.
Yes, even though I'm a Curly woman, I think Larry has been under-rated.
Donald Rumsfeld. You just don't get any better comedy than:
"I would not say that the future is necessarily less predictable than the past. I think the past was not predictable when it started."
Or
"I don't do quagmires. "
Or
"Death has a tendency to encourage a depressing view of war."
Okay, maybe it's not so funny....
Are you kidding me!
Curley.

I like this take on it.
I'm just wondering who blacksmithn considers the other two stooges. As for myself, I can't limit it to two. There are so many contenders in that circle.....
Come here.....porcupine.......
