Yaya's been potty trained for a while now, but suddenly she's having a lot of accidents... and laughing about it.
Not a way to delight mama and me.
We're working through the situation, including frequent trips to the potty, clear instructions, consequences, etc. We're just having a hard time understanding the back-sliding.
How old is she, again?
Recently two?
This sounds familiar. Power, boundary-testing, etc.
Yeah. Could be some stuff re: little sis in there too, but sozlet did something similar (blanking on details, just general air of familiarity) even without the little sis aspect.
Sounds like you're handling it well, just have to keep at it until it passes.
They don't call it terrible twos for nothing, even if communication skills help a great deal.
I'm betting that by the end of April--and quite possibly by Easter--YaYa's little sister is going to make a great leap forward.
Siblings are tuned into each other.
Meanwhile, you have my sympathies.
DrewDad, around 2 -1/2 year mark my son also did the same. He did for sometime and then was back in track again. You are doing good already. Keep doing that. In my opinion there is not anything more you can do. Just wait and watch. This is a passing phase and very disturbing for parents, I bet.
Just one thing though, when you say consequences, what kind of consequences are you talking about?
Assisting with cleanup, not going back to play immediately, wearing plain underwear, etc.
Smearing her with her own filth and and then putting a diaper on her head seemed like too much trouble.

LOL .. yes that does seem like a lot of trouble.
But have faith, you are doing good
just wondering if there has been new competion for affection in the household or a change in her schedule? This happend with my childen when somthing like that happend .
I don't know...seems like one good smear ought to do the trick.
