Making A2K less boring is easy. I just let out some right of center comment, like I'd like to disband the EPA, and watch what happens.

For the record, cjhsa, I'd love to see more conservative opinions on A2K. Seriously, it would make things more interesting.

As for disbanding the EPA, hasn't that already happened? Well, maybe not literally, but in terms of what they do (and don't do) these days...

Anyway, I am pretty much apolitical, so some conservative thought here would certainly be interesting for me, to inspire debate. I have shied away from the political forums mainly because I am sick of the bloody war opinions, and most of the American politics posts I am not really familiar with. But hey, if it goes up, I will read it...the fun is more in arguing a point for me, whether I believe it or not. I think that is how they taught things in Debating Club....

I went back to abuzz last night, which I do occasionally. I flipped through (almost) the 1st hundred questions. That was easy, because most of them were posted by one genius - Octavian - who seems to run a race with himself to see how much stupider he can get, and it never seems to bother him that no one answers. A lot of others were posted by one individual who gives himself cutesy names but is always recognizable. And there were a few others.

But abuzz has lost its zing, and zing is what I think farmer is talking about. Hard to define, but you know it when you see it. And a nice friendly atmosphere is always warming, but sometimes mixing it up is not such a bad idea. That's where the politics threads mostly come in.

Farmer, I grew up with a father who would take another side deliberately, just to get us going. We grew up loud, arguing and loving it, and listening. You can't really get much of that in an on-line forum, but we keep trying.

mama J, its the art of story telling and debate that, to me, seem to come from the same spot in the brain. the ability to be compelling in a tale or a case. sounds like your father rehearsed his skills

DArt, i theink that the EPA has been denuuted since early in the clinton years. Only because billy let a num,ber of the major regs run out without renewal, like the superfund and Surface Mining provisions. Of course all this was done during newts Contract on America.

To be truthful A2K can seem a bit vanilla sometimes, but ya know, I like vanilla. It's so versatile, like a black suit. It's all in the accessorizing. :wink:

I too sometimes feel a2k is a bit bland, but, considering the alternatives, where else is there to go?

Does this mean, everyone is looking for a red hot fight?

Maybe we should go back to the issue of the God-given soul.

Bland, shmand- Why is everybody looking for somone else to liven A2K up? You all know how to write provocative posts that will generate INTELLIGENT controversy. Quit yer bitchin' and start writing!

I suspect that the "Intelligent issue" is partially at fault for the so-called bland description.

New Haven- No, thank you. If I want "low down and dirty" I know where to go. I think that what we are looking for is an adrenalin rush without any bloodletting!

I think if people here would have wanted to, they could have started bickering long time ago. Starting some contentious thread on purpose would be less then 'authentic', but what the heck, why not. I will just stay away from it should it come about and go to the same old bland threads that I enjoy.

I don't want dirty fights, or fights at all. - - - - I think people have a tendency to not know how good they have it until it starts to slip away. When I feel this way about blandness I just lay a little low until a thread comes that sparks my interest. Then I forget about complaining and start posting.

Youse people wanna see a fight?
