The truth, in this case, would be that we are all seekers of the truth. Forsooth!

I crack me up Smile

JLN,

Thanks for mystical viewpoint. I should perhaps review my "time out" concept as only "seeming" to be relatively static when it is in essence part of the overall "process of interaction".

The second law of thermodynamics applies to open systems too.

Energy spontaneously tends to flow only from being concentrated in one place to becoming diffused or dispersed and spread out.

As per "spontaneously" & "tends' it will indeed be the case for an open system also.

If you do not believe me, fly out into space with a hot cup of coffee, it will still cool in this open system.
OK, back from space.

Ya fergot ta tell me ta cover the cup first. Mad

Sue Ronald @ Micky Dee's. No, wait--Starbuck's might be a better option.

Or maybe NASA?

Yes, "relatively static" in the sense of "relatively slower." And defintely "seeming" in the sense that all such efforts are contextual, relative, and perspectival--i.e., it SEEMS to be that way from here.

I found a truth.

I like to get puffed up. Like a puffy, poofy, conceited, self serving, puffy prick.

I also found the reasons for why I get all puffed up......are not even reasons to get puffed up about in the first place. lol

what a winner. How's that for some truth?

Wow! That is a winner. Laughing

I say it is 'truth,' too--because I have found that same truth (only my 'truth' is not your 'truth' even though, in a way, they are basically the same 'truth.') I think many people can probably say they might have discovered this at some point in time. And I will even go so far as to say that those who haven't, just haven't yet. That statement will likely be supported by any 'puffed up' reactions it might cause. Right?

Truth is more of a 'principle' I am beginning to think, instead of some sort of factual or objectively provable entity. Perhaps it's not that it doesn't exist, but that the traditional ways of approaching it just don't work because it is a different sort of animal than what we are assuming.

Bartikus and Annie,

Which "I" is it which observes the "puffed up I" ?

If it is merely some other "I" in a more mellow state, then what is the nature of that "truth" you claim to observe ?

Fresco...I need to set the record straight and apologize for being such an ass towards you.

You seem to be very knowledgable about subjects such as tribalism and scientific theories and such. I know very little regarding that which you seem to have excelled in. I guess i just felt inadequate.

I can see better your concerns regarding religion.

These concerns are greatly magnified by weapons of mass destruction.

I did'nt see this before or maybe I did'nt want to see it.

To be honest I am deeply saddened by it.

Well, for me, that 'I' pretty much was only comprised of that puffed up part, and so, recognizing the puffiness pretty much 'puffed' it away--and basically that means that 'I' part went with it's stuffing.

After many of these type 'truth' encounters, the idea of being in a 'more mellow state' or any other kind of comparable state pretty much became a thing of the past. Because those are moods and emotions and they are ego when they drive you and make things so crazy. No more emotionally driven reactions, tempers, fits, or confrontations.

When all that goes away, the peace is mind-boggling.

Annie,

Good answer. Smile

Bartikus,

No apology is needed....the sages say that we should try to observe ourselves without judgement...perhaps therein lies the peace of which Annie speaks.

Steve,

You are correct ! ..... but in the more subtle form... the "ego" is dead.

Like God who is (since the 19th century) " dead", the ego never existed. But both have been useful fictions. I don't think most Western and Eastern societies feel the need for God as a source of legitiate governmental authority anymore--after the Enlightenment, and the rise of secular forms of rule. But the ego continues to serve vital functions, but for those who are capable of it, it is better viewed as an "as if" psycho-social construction.

JL... whoa... I think that belief in God can provide a much needed structure for some. I also believe that "truth" itself is a defining characteristic of a person. What that truth embodies is up to the individual. Truth itself is just what it is. Though I'm doubting if we will ever be able to explain really what it is. But, I do feel that whatever will be will be, and maybe the "truth" will be revealed in the end of this world as we know it. However that may come about.

This planet is approximately 4.5 billion years old. When is this "end of the world" supposed to come?
