52 million in June!

I was a bit worried about this -- how donors would react to the decision to forgo public financing, and the end of the fever-pitch primary season. The WSJ (I think it was) estimated a pretty low June haul for Obama (20 something, I think). The campaign scoffed at the number, but I wasn't expecting 52 million.

Wow.

From the email I just got from Plouffe:

Quote:
In the month of June, supporters like you helped raise $52 million. And together with the DNC, we now have nearly $72 million in the bank.

Just was going to post this (got a second, slightly different email -- I'm signed up on a zillion different lists and often get campaign stuff in pairs), I guess it's kind of related to the above (as far as I can tell):

David Plouffe wrote:
But more impressive than the number is how you did it. Hundreds of thousands of ordinary people contributed to building our campaign for change. Many were first-time donors, giving only what they could afford -- and the average donation was just $68.

(Emphasis mine.)

Stunning fundraising month for Obama; and a big f*ck-you to all the Conservatives and political pundits who were speculating that he was off his previous fund raising highs.

Cyclo, That kind of language is not necessary; most conservatives love our economy now with higher fuel and food costs, loss of their jobs and homes, and the recent run on banks. In simple observation terms, they love being masochists. Suffering for America is their pride and joy, and they'll continue to advocate for more of the same. They fear Obama, because they know their lives and standard of living might improve.

I get very concerned by these numbers from both candidates.

How much personal assets has each candidate dedicated to the quest? None.

I understand perfectly. By me having facts, I can draw a conclusion and my conclusion is I do not like public financed candidates who do not put their "OWN" assets at stake. Now by public financed, I mean the way Obama, McCain and every other politician goes out and bribes the PUBLIC for money without putting up their own assets.

When someone stands before me and says I am putting up millions of my own assets, that tells me they actually believe in what they are saying.

Obama has nothing at risk except your money. Therefore he will say and or do anything you want him to say or do so you will give him more of your money.

I didn't say you supported him, just that you must have believed that he was honest, as he dumped more then 45 million into his candidacy.

You just don't like the fact that I do not hesitate to call your bullshit out. And that isn't going to change.

I've always considered the significant time spent, loss of privacy and exposure to ridicule that any Presidential candidate experiences as personal assets dedicated to the quest.

That's the second time today you've responded in an oh so intelligent manner to one of my posts, Ceej. I'm starting to think that maybe you like me!

All the media is about Obama, and McCain is nothing more than a shadow in the background right now, and every time he apologizes again for something that might offend Obama, he is clueless, so what do you expect to see in the polls? If we had a good candidate, ci, it would be a contest, but it will still be a contest by the time November rolls around. I can't wait for a debate.

But you get the flip side as well. McCain has jokingly suggested using cigarettes to give cancer to Iranians as well as singing about bombing them and the press pretty much ignored it. He presented economic plans that completely make no sense but no one is listening. If people were paying McCain any attention, he's be out by now and some other person could be nominated at the convention.
