Hi Sozobe,

Tomorrow I am being interviewed to assist with the GE campaign. I sent my resume in...I guess they want some older people with varied life experiences too...such as Vietnam veteran, grandmother with knowledge of sign language!

Wow, that's great!!! I hope you get it, and look forward to hearing stories about your work if so.

You'd certainly be an asset to them.

Good luck!

B. Hussein Obama wants to lower our standard of living (and raise our taxes):

"We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK," Obama said.

The way the gas prices are and the cost of everything rising, we won't have to worry about Obama wanting everyone to have lower standards of living. We won't be able to afford to drive our SUV's when it cost so much just drive one just around town much less on vacation somewhere. Probably why car advertisement are offering free gas to buy SUV's nowadays.

Statements like this are communist in nature. I sure hope the GOP gets it **** together before we have to deal with a commie president.

It's here:

He also attacked McCain's plan for a gas tax holiday to cope with rising pump prices, which Clinton supports, as well as his other environmental plans, saying the Republican had consistently opposed fuel efficiency standards. "For him to come to Oregon as an environmental president, but his big strategy is to do more drilling and to have a gas tax holiday for three months, that's a phony solution," he said. Pitching his message to Oregon's environmentally-conscious voters, Obama called on the United States to "lead by example" on global warming, and develop new technologies at home which could be exported to developing countries. "We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK," Obama said. "That's not leadership. That's not going to happen," he added.

The president has no business telling individuals what they can consume. Obama's a commie.

Why should Americans need the permission of other countries to eat what they wish, or cool their homes or drive what they have purchased?

Do you envision an America that asks other countries for permission to do these things, engineer?

Thanks.

I think it would had been better for him to have said "and then expect to have a good environment and lower energy and food prices," rather than the bit about other countries. That don't go over well in this country. But it probably will get people talking about how those daily ordinary things affect big things like the global environment and the cost of food and energy.

Yeah, 'what he should've[/u] said' .. Laughing Laughing

The problem is, that in an unguarded moment 'Present' Obama said what he thinks.

In his view, Americans should have to ask permission of other countries to enjoy the lifestyle that we currently have.

I am not sure what he meant by the comment of other countries. We'll have to see how it plays out over the next few days. They might be more worried about the cost of gas rising to $4 today than any kind of threat to our excessive consumption American lifestyle.

(I am guilty of the same, I have a SUV, keep my thermastat on 72 all year and eat way more than I need. I am not offended it might all be taken away. In fact; I more or less expect it any day with the cost of living being the way it is now.)

he probably meant that we can't continue to be in hock to other countries forever and running up our debt to them..... just like the misuse of credit cards by individuals.... foolish spending and no discipline... eventually the people holding your markers want their money....and then you're f*cked if you've run up more debt than you can pay back......on this point I agree with Obama....

I envision a country where people realize that the resources we consume are limited in nature and that the selfish and often silly decisions we make have an impact beyond our borders and checkbooks. Several months ago, the governor of Georgia held a prayer session to pray for rain. That struck me as terrible theology. Instead, we should be praying for forgiveness for wasting the bounty of water that routinely falls across the Southeast US. We routinely buy more horsepower than we need, more room than we need, more food than we need, etc. Of course, if you have the money, you can consume as you want, but eventually that behavior will drive the country into the ground. If any candidate wants to point out that the long term success of our country is directly tied to the proper use of our resources, I'm fine with that.
