Everyone seems to be slightly delusional. Setting up a line up at this time is akin to predicting the climate in the year 2050--HIGHLY SPECULATIVE!!

Number 1- Daley is not Presidential Material. He cannot run his city much less a nation. His hold on his city stems almost entirely on the procedures set in place by his father years ago. Those are becoming unraveled.

Number 2- Why don't we get real?

The names being floated that have a chance are:

l. Hillary Rodham Clinton---Senator McCain--and a large group of wannabees---Gingrich, Allen and Romney on one side and
Bayh, Kerry, and Biden on the other.

I think that most have forgotten that there is still 28 months left in the tenure of George W. Bush. Can anyone safely predict what will happen in those months that might change the line-up?

Suppose, God forbid, there is another 9/11 strike at the USA? How will that change the line-up?

Hillary would, of course. be dead if that happened!!!

I agree that Daley is not Presidential material. However, he doesn't want to be President. He has more political power running Chicago, than he'd have, were he to be President.

Your assessments of Daley's ability to run Chicago are untrue.
Have you forgotten, that Chicago is a City, that at present
is 50% Hispanic and 40% Black. As far as I'm concerned, as he is a white, Catholic, Irishman, I'd say Daley's doing a super job.

There are no "clean" politicians. So what? Dirt is what rules in Chicago, and it's dirt that's made Chicago one of the greatest
of CIities on God's earth.

How or if this might translate over to administration of the nation, particularly now, isn't at all clear. Do we assume the mayors of San Francisco or Chicago are competent to this task?

I don't see why the Democrats shouldn't nominate Richard Daley Jr. to run for president. Unless he has a corps in the closet that I don't know about, I would probably prefer him over any of PollingReport's top five contenders.

Your post shows that you know nothing about Chicago politics.
Chicago isn't Germany, even though many of the natives love
dumblings. Shocked

Sorry Bud, but I'd like to see Dr.Condi Rice in the White House. As far as the bum (Hillary) from Arkansas via Illinois, I'd move to Canada if she became President.

Miller_ I do have to agree with you that under the circumstances, Daley has not done a terrible job in Chicago, but I feel that he has given away the store to the race carders--Jesse Jackson and the greasy little wimp, Luis Guiterrez. Maybe he had to, but the hard core that helped to run the city for years are either living on the periphery because they must live in Chicago to hold a city job or have fled to the suburbs.

You know, of course, that Richie Daley would make George W. Bush look like William F. Buckley if the reporters questioned him frequently.

Soon, the city will be run by someone like Jesse Jackson Jr. and it will crumble into dust like all of the cities run by race carders--Cleveland, Newark, and Detriot---a legacy from political correctness and affirmative action--the destruction of our beautiful cities by barely educated barbarians!!!

How can you even tell what Rice thinks? She just mirrors whatever CheneyBush asks - with proper diction.

Rice is an independent thinker.. Even the famous minister in Chicago, Rev. Meeks was heard to have exclaimed--I don't agree with her but she certainly is not a House N..... Reverend Meeks was soundly scolded by the African-American community for using such a term and he agreed not to repeat it.

I guess that's kind of the point.

Let me conjure up for your delectation the image of the President (that would be Hillary) naked in bed and on top of a similarly naked Vice President (that would be Condi) engaged in (we'll be conservative) the traditional 69 position and activities. Further, they have just previously converted, one to the Muslim faith and the other to Scientology.

Now you'd think this would be a healing formula for your wonderful nation. Saintly precedents all over the place. Inter-party and interracial bonding, gay people equal to other people, and diverse religious expression. Let's do it, miller, let's fall in love.

Oh really? Is this the impression you get from all the black males of your acquaintance?

I don't like her because I think she stands for policies and ideology that isn't good for the majority of people. I have substantial disagreement with substantial viewpoints. To characterize that as "being afraid of" Rice is a little juvenile, and if you want to go there, you're going to have to substantiate it.

So where do you get that idea?

I think he gets the impression of black males fearing Rice, because so few of them accept the ideology she presses. In short, wishfull thinking.

Why? Because so many of them are plain jealous of not only a
woman, but of a black woman. Consider first her educational background, and then consider her cultural background.

Why do black publications, such as Jet, Ebony or even Essence ( all three of which I subscribe to )ignore, in general, the accomplishments of Dr. Rice?

As a matter of fact, why do these black publications fail to recognize the contributions of many other cultured and very well educated ( Drama, Science, Medicine, etc ) black Americans?

The issue is probably $$. Sex and Rap music sell, but nothing
of an cultural or intellectual nature?

So basically you're saying that the statement about black men being "afraid" of Rice is a speculation of yours based on your observations of - what, black magazines? Essence is edited and largely written by black women. Are black women scared of her, too?

I'd be as solidly based in fact (zero) to speculate you were scared of black men. It was a stupid statement.
