This has been a good thread so far. Too bad that some are apparently running out of ammo to praise and/or discuss the pros and cons of an Obama presidency and rather seem to be turning this into still another Bush bashing thread.

who deserves it more than that useless prick?

Damn those Democrats. They're managing to take a moment to cease fire and reinforce their unity against the Republican president before tearing into each other again in preparation for the next primary battle state.

The advantage of having Bush3McCain running it that this will ensure a democrat win in november.

Foxfyre, I dared to post that video a long time ago, and boy did I catch it.

Honestly, I am absolutely flabbergasted that the best the Democratic Party can come up with is Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. They are scraping bottom there. We are in deep trouble if either one of them get in. I would vote for Bugs Bunny or Donald Duck first, and it is becoming all the easier to vote for good ole boy, John McCain. I had to grieve over the loss of alot better candidates first, but yes, no question, John is the guy. I just hope he picks a decent vp in case he has a heart attack or something.

Not if Hillary keeps going out of her way to endorse him.

Think that through for a moment; do you really think Hillary endorsing McCain will help McCain or hurt Obama?

I think both the modern GOP and the modern Democratic Party could come up with highly qualified, competent, knowledgeable, experienced, and capable people who would be a national leader all Americans could admire and respect. But neither does. I think it is because the brightest and best are already successful and have no interest in undergoing the viscious and hateful politics of personal destruction that have absolutely nothing to do with running the country competently. So all we get from either side are 'heir apparents', 'pay backs', and the annointed from the 'good old boys club'.

If McCain could get away with it, he probably would like to do that. Perish the thought!

Hillary as Veep is the same problem McCain would have in choosing Thompson though - no 'heir apparent' when McCain's term was finished plus illusions of a 'geriatic ticket'. Any Veep has to consider that he or she can't run against the President in the re-election bid, so the Veep will have to wait for eight years before the next Presidential attempt. In 2016 Thompson will be 74 years old and Hillary will be 68 which could be more of a problem for a woman than it would be for a man. Hillary has to be thinking that this shot may be the only one she will ever realistically have. Thompson knows he is done.

And I'm sure Hillary is also weighing all this in whether she would agree to be Obama's running mate too. And I'm sure he is carefully weighing whether she would be more asset or more dead weight for him.

Following up on my thoughts on McCain as part of the 'good old boys' club though, he wasn't my first choice and I don't think he is our brightest and best. But I do think he is a better choice than Obama or Clinton, and I do think we could do worse.

I am hoping Romney for vp, so we could have some young energy and some ability for intelligent analysis of various issues in the whitehouse, but I don't think McCain likes Romney. Romney is not a member of the good ole boys club in Washington.

I dont know about the dem VP candidate, because it depends on who wins the dem nomination.

As for McCains VP choice, I think that Sarah Palin might be an excellent choice, based on her youth, her politics, and on the fact that she is already a governor...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarah_Palin

Of course, at the moment she is 7 months pregnant, but I dont see that as being a serious problem in becoming VP.

I hadn't thought of Sarah, but you might be onto something. She is a remarkable young woman. I sure wouldn't want to undergo a bruising political campaign with a newborn though. And she'll have to ditch the fur outside of Alaska. Way too politically incorrect. Smile

TRIBUNE UPDATE: Bill calls for public complaint database, overhaul of agency

By Jim Tankersley and Patricia Callahan | TRIBUNE REPORTERS
March 7, 2008

Excerpt:

In an attempt to make those recalls more transparent, an amendment inserted Thursday on behalf of Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) requires recall notices to include the names and locations of factories where the flawed products were produced. The failure of recall notices to include such information has allowed overseas factories to continue selling tainted products to unwitting U.S. importers that don't know of the factories' troubled track record.

People get upset because they are saying that the close race between Obama and Clinton will only be divisive. Not true; that's what elections are all about; to express our differences and why we want Obama or Clinton as our next commander in chief.

That during their campaigs, they express "their" difrferences of what is important is part and parcel of elections. It sways voters depending on how each individual perceives their message; that in essence is what campaigns are all about.

Let the battle continue...

Nothing to say about it, really.

I wish that Obama would put up his f*cking dukes instead of doing whatever the hell it is that he's doing this week. Honestly.

I would have mentioned it but figured it already had been. But really, is 'monster' really enough of a slur to force a dedicated staffer to resign?
