@Gargamel,
From USA Today.

Poll: Obama's Afghanistan plan wins public support
By Susan Page, USA TODAY

WASHINGTON — President Obama's plan to withdraw thousands of U.S. troops from Afghanistan this year and next wins broad approval from Americans who are increasingly ready for the nation's longest war to end, a Gallup Poll finds.

The survey, taken after the president's nationally televised address on Afghanistan last Wednesday, shows an overwhelming 72% favor his blueprint, including 50% of Republicans. Those who support it include a significant number who would like to see a faster withdrawal than he has proposed.

Twenty-three percent of those polled oppose the president's plan.

Those 23% opposed are tea party members, I'm sure.

@realjohnboy,
According to CNBC, most Americans agree with the GOP on the debt ceiling. That's with the understanding that their social security and Medicare benefits are cut.

I think this is true, because most do not understand that not increasing the debt ceiling is going to rile the world markets. The credit rating for the US will drop, and the price of oil is going to skyrocket to over $200/bbl.

IMHO

A federal appeals court in Cincinnati has just ruled that the provision of the health care law requiring individuals to buy insurance is legal. One of some 30 cases on the issue.

The Cinci ruling matters little, all of it will be decided by The Supremes in due time.

@H2O MAN,
That is probably true but it likely will not get to them in the next term (2011-2012). By the term after that there will likely be one or two seats to become vacant; to be filled by the re-elected Obama.

@realjohnboy,
All states require the purchase of car insurance. It's to protect the public and themselves from a huge loss if they are involved in an accident. Health insurance serves the same purpose. I don't see how any court can decide otherwise.

@cicerone imposter,
My state at least, does not require collision, uninsured motorist, nor comprehensive. All that is required is liability. You haven't even given us a bad analogy. It's no analogy at all.

Obama's real world approval rating is currently around 40% and it continues to shrink.

If the election were help today, Obama would suffer a historic landslide defeat.

This is excellent news for the country.

You assume, incorrectly, that the rest of the county, after a long day of repairing water softeners, dons nipple clamps and leafs through Guns & Ammo as you do.

Actually, the real world number is about 40%

You probably missed that in your new issue of Marxists & Liberals

I can't find the 40% number, either. Can you give Gargamel and the rest of us a source? I did find something from Gallup of approval ratings by country for 2008 (Bush), 2009 and 2010 (Obama) but the numbers were neither aggregated beyond regions or weighted for population size.
