Everybody's got some kinda styling/grooming issue. Takes about 10 seconds to find in this glorious day of the internet.

Mr. Bush's good friend in Canada, our own Mr. Harper, is being dragged through the media for his 'primping' right now. Even the Glob (one of the more right-wing papers here) is on the case.

Just be as righteously indignant when we hear of one of your GOP boys' indulgences, 'kay?

It wasnt a "swipe",it was a fact.
Sorry if that bothers you.
And if a member of the GOP has indulgences like that, while pretending to be a "comman man",I will be just as indignant.

BUT,they cant be "one of my GOP boys",because I am not a repub.

So now telling the truth is a "swipe"?

If your "truths" are regurgitations of whatever negative you can find about a particular political stripe, yeah, I'd say so.

Butrflynet, I don't suppose there's a transcript for Michelle's remarks?

No, but it is short enough that I'll spend some time typing out a transcript for you. Give me a few days to get this done. I am on dial-up and it takes several hours for the 10-minute video to load so I can view it. :::grr!:::

It is worth doing and I will post it here and send it to the campaign when finished so they can post it on their website too.

Here you go, Sozobe. I posted it on the Obama site rather than here due to the length. Feel free to distribute the link to anyone else who would like to read it.

I'm watching the movie "Bobby". Got chills at the clear similarities in spirit between the two campaigns - the hope each inspired...

Well, the difference between the Media Matters summary and Schlussel's original text was pretty much nothing. But thanks for allowing us to find out that those evil Soros-funded people wrote as matter of fact a summary as any of us could have written.

That was awesome, Butrflynet!

And it was NOT short! Good grief! Thanks so much.

I love how she just eased into the policy stuff so smoothly, conversational, conversational, then wham.

She's very cool.

It would have been more honest of the Soros-funded people to have pointed out that their excerpt was a running commentary not unlike that going on in every live media source in America as the events unfolded. It would have been more honest of the Soros-funded people to have added an addendum that Schlussel did accurately identify the shooter when that information became available.

I have no doubt that Schlussel offends the delicate sensitivities of the self proclaimed intellectually and morally superior Left--I am unfamiliar with her and have no opinion about her whatsoever--but even a blind man could see that she was being misrepresented in Blatham's excerpted post.

I couldn't read the original, neither when Foxfyre posted the link nor now.

Huh? They summarised the story as they found it, at the time that they found it.

And that they did about as neutrally as anyone could, hence my surprise at the need you felt to point out 'what the item really said'. I mean, it said pretty much what MM had said it said.

That leaves the point about the later updates. Should MM have added an addendum that "Schlussel did accurately identify the shooter when that information became available"? Perhaps they should have. Perhaps they still will.

I hardly think, however, that it would make the item any more favourable. Because let's consider the update she posted, here. You say that it was "not unlike that going on in every live media source in America as the events unfolded". Really?

Google still has the cached version:

Debbie Schlussel wrote:
**** UPDATE: Shootings appear professional, says expert; VTU Alum on school's "Asian" Population; 2nd Amenment-Free Campus/VTU lobbied against students having guns on campus for personal protection ****

**** UPDATE #2: The shooter has now been identified as a Chinese national here on a student visa. Lovely. Yet another reason to stop letting in so many foreign students. ****

**** UPDATE #3, 04/17/07: The shooter has now been identified as a South Korean national, who is a permanent resident. ****

Oh yes, just like any other live media source in America, huh. Not.

Schlussel sounds like quite the yuck. No acknowledgement, even, that her wild speculation had turned out unfounded; and of course, no reflection on what that might say about the worth of her speculation in the first place - but instead, how "lovely" indeed, just a dive headlong into the next kind of hatin'.

Never mind that the by now depressing history of school shootings hasnt seen any striking dominance by foreign students, and that the new link she now makes is thus even more bullshit than the previous one.

I suppose we've all met an unpleasant gal (or guy) like that at a party - the one who'll rant, "ooh I just bet that those criminals the other day were blacks, because you know, it would just make so much sense .. <is> .. oh yeah see, thats what you get with those Mexicans, thats just typical!"

And, if the opportunity presents itself where anyone really finds discussion with this person even slightly worthwhile, inquiry could be made on the "soros-funded" claim.

Intrestinger and intrestinger...

Only a few months ago, the vast majority of black elected officials in New York were expected to support the presidential candidacy of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. But no longer.
