okie, Have you ever been examined for PTSD? I really think you should get checked out.
No, I have not, and don't need to. My life has been successful since my military stint, happily married to the same woman for almost 40 years and successfully raising 2 fairly responsible and law abiding children. I have been responsible and reasonably successful as a husband, father, and grandfather, and quite thankful to be a citizen of this great country. Although I was in the infantry and spent a year as a "grunt," I was fortunate to see very little actual combat, almost none in fact. I am giving out more info than I ever have, but for the curious, in fact I never had to shoot anyone, for which I am grateful. The worst of it was sleeping in the rain at night and slogging through the tall grass and jungle during the day, in my opinion. I was drafted, started as a lowly Private E-1, and by the time I was discharged about 2 years later, I left as a Buck Sargeant E-5. I would classify myself as part of the 85% as stated in the following website:
http://www.vhfcn.org/stat.html
"85% of Vietnam Veterans made a successful transition to civilian life."
